Forward Into the Past: Productivity Retrogression in the Electric Generating Industry [PDF]

open access: yes
The electric utility industry is a prime culprit in the U.S. productivity growth slowdown of the last Iwo decades. This paper develops econometric labor and fuel demand equations for a large panel data set covering almost all fossil-fueled electric ...

Solving arbitrary one-loop reduction via generating function

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
Recently, the concept of generating function has been employed in one-loop reduction. For one-loop integrals encompassing arbitrary tensor ranks and higher-pole contributions, the generating function can be decomposed into a tensor part and a higher-pole

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Transfer Function Synthesis without Quantifier Elimination [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Recently it has been shown how transfer functions for linear template constraints can be derived for bit-vector programs by operating over propositional Boolean formulae. The drawback of this method is that it relies on existential quantifier elimination,

Weighted hypergeometric functions and fractional derivative

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2017
We introduce some weighted hypergeometric functions and the suitable generalization of the Caputo fractional derivation. For these hypergeometric functions, some linear and bilinear relations are obtained by means of the mentioned derivation operator ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Mathematical modelling of forecasting the results of knowledge testing / Žinių tikrinimo rezultatų prognozės matematinis modeliavimas

open access: yesTechnological and Economic Development of Economy, 2008
In this paper a mathematical model for obtaining probability distribution of the knowledge testing results is proposed. Differences and similarities of this model and Item Response Theory (IRT) logistic model are discussed.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
