Generalized Elastic Scheduling [PDF]

open access: yes2006 27th IEEE International Real-Time Systems Symposium (RTSS'06), 2006
The elastic task model (Buttazzo et al., 2002) is a powerful model for adapting real-time systems in the presence of uncertainty. This paper generalizes the existing elastic scheduling approach in several directions. It reveals that the original task compression algorithm in (Buttazzo et al., 2002) in fact solves a quadratic programming problem that ...

Generation Scheduling of a Hydrothermal System Considering Multiple Provincial Peak-Shaving Demands

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
There is a common lack of flexible power to quickly follow peak loads of many coal-dominated provincial power grids (PPGs) in China. A regional power grid (RPG) that covers several provinces is responsible for scheduling the power plants it manages and ...

General purpose schedulers for database systems [PDF]

open access: yesActa Informatica, 1980
A family of simple models for database systems is defined, where a system is composed of a scheduler, a data manager and several user transactions. The basic correctness criterion for such systems is taken to be consistency preservation. The central notion of the paper is that of a general purpose scheduler, a database system scheduler that is blind to

A Generic Approach to Scheduling and Checkpointing Workflows [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 47th International Conference on Parallel Processing, 2018
This work deals with scheduling and checkpointing strategies to execute scientific workflows on failure-prone large-scale platforms. To the best of our knowledge, this work is the first to target fail-stop errors for arbitrary workflows. Most previous work addresses soft errors, which corrupt the task being executed by a processor but do not cause the ...

General Perfectly Periodic Scheduling

open access: yesAlgorithmica, 2002
In a perfectly periodic schedule, each job must be scheduled precisely every some fixed number of time units after its previous occurrence. Traditionally, motivated by centralized systems, the perfect periodicity requirement is relaxed, the main goal being to attain the requested average rate.

Heuristic methods for job shop scheduling: Active schedule generation algorithm, non-delay schedule generation algorithm and heuristic schedule generation algorithm

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2021
Abstract PT. Multi Citra Busana is one of the knitting material convection companies that has a good local scale marketing area where production scheduling is usually done based on the order of arrival of orders or first come first serve (FCFS).

Generalized Exact Scheduling: A Minimal-Variance Distributed Deadline Scheduler [PDF]

open access: yesOperations Research, 2023
In this paper, we adapt tools from optimization and control theory to characterize the optimal distributed policies in a broad range of settings without any approximation. We show that Exact Scheduling minimizes both the stationary mean and variance of the service capacity subject to strict demand and deadline requirements.

Learning to branch in the generation maintenance scheduling problem

open access: yesGlobal Energy Interconnection, 2022
To maximize the reliability index of a power system, this study modeled a generation maintenance scheduling problem that considers the network security constraints and rationality constraints of the generation maintenance practice in a power system.

Multiobjective generation scheduling using multicore processing-based continuous genetic algorithm

open access: yesCogent Engineering, 2020
Algorithms used for day ahead generation scheduling are crucial for a power system operator to balance conflicting objectives and the network constraints.
