Neurobiology of Learning and Memory, 2022
Neurobiological studies of the model species, Aplysia californica (Mollusca, Gastropoda, Euopisthobranchia), have helped advance our knowledge of the neural bases of different forms of learning, including sensitization, a non-associative increase in withdrawal behaviors in response to mild innocuous stimuli.

Simple closed-form expressions are derived for the “same vacuum” renormalization terms that arise in state-specific multireference coupled cluster (MRCC) theories. Explicit equations are provided for these coupling terms through the triple excitation level of MRCC theory, and a general expression is included for arbitrary-order excitations.

It is largely unknown whether prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level at first date of testing predicts long-term risk of prostate cancer (PCa) incidence and mortality in the general population.Determine whether baseline PSA levels predict long-term risk of PCa incidence and mortality. We examined 4383 men aged 20-94 yr from the Danish general population ...

Generalized and signal-specific long-term nociceptive sensitization in the common snail
Neuroscience and Behavioral Physiology, 1996It was found in experiments carried out in common snails that applications of a concentrated solution of quinine (10%) to the animal's head lead to long-term (more than 24 h) facilitation of defense reactions. Facilitation of synaptic components of the responses to test stimulation, an increase in the excitability of the membrane, and its ...

Age‐ and Gender‐specific BMI in Terms of the Lowest Mortality in Japanese General Population
Obesity, 2008Objective: The primary purposes of our study were to establish age‐ and gender‐specific BMIs in terms of lowest mortality (risk nadir BMIs) for the Japanese population, and to then compare those to (i) BMIs for whites as determined by similar studies and to (ii) the official BMI guidelines. Methods and Procedures: A total of 32,060 men and 61,916 women ...

Is CLIL instruction beneficial in terms of general proficiency and specific areas of grammar?
Journal of Immersion and Content-Based Language Education, 2015Recent studies have highlighted the benefits of CLIL instruction regarding general competence in the acquisition of second languages. However, it is not clear whether these benefits extend to specific areas of grammar. Here we compare the general proficiency and specific linguistic features of a group of learners of L3 English in a CLIL programme with ...
