Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

General and Specific Quality of life in long-term oral cancer survivors reconstructed with free forearm flap.

open access: yes, 2022
Abstract Background: This study evaluates the general and specific quality of life (QoL) in oral cancer patients with more than 5 years of survival after initial surgery and reconstructed with Radial Forearm Free Flap (RFFF), comparing these results with a general population group, used as a reference. Methods: We used in our study the SF36 ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Strategic polymorphism requires just two combinators! [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
In previous work, we introduced the notion of functional strategies: first-class generic functions that can traverse terms of any type while mixing uniform and type-specific behaviour.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Generic Words in the Names of Russian Newspapers and Magazines of the 18th–19th Centuries

open access: yesВопросы ономастики
This article investigates the development of a functional-semantic group of lexical units used as generic terms (journalistic or nomenclatural markers) in multi-component hemeronyms. Drawing on continuous sampling from N. M.

General Gauge Mediation

open access: yes, 2008
We give a general definition of gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking which encompasses all the known gauge mediation models. In particular, it includes both models with messengers as well as direct mediation models.

The skills required for transition to university and study in biological sciences: A student perspective

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bioscience students were asked for their opinions on the value and teaching of skills. 204 responded that teamwork, time management and study skills are necessary to reach University, that scientific writing, research, laboratory and presentation skills are taught effectively during their studies, while other skills are gained inherently through study ...

A Systematic Comparison of Alpha‐Synuclein Seed Amplification Assays for Increasing Reproducibility

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Seed amplification assays (SAAs) enable ultrasensitive detection of misfolded α‐synuclein across biofluids and tissues. Yet, heterogeneity in protocols limits cross‐study comparability and clinical translation. Here, we review α‐synuclein SAA methods and their performance across various biological matrices.
