Submanifolds with Generators

1998
In Part 2 we consider the following classes of submanifolds having generators or foliations: ruled submanifolds, (strongly) parabolic submanifolds, k-saddle submanifolds and submanifolds with nonpositive extrinsic curvature. Thus we recall some necessary facts and formulas from the theory of submanifolds [Ch 1–3], [KN], [AkG].

On Formal Maps Between Generic Submanifolds in Complex Space

open access: yesJournal of Geometric Analysis, 2009
Let H:(M,p)->(M',p') be a formal mapping between two germs of real-analytic generic submanifolds in C^N with nonvanishing Jacobian. Assuming M to be minimal at p and M' holomorphically nondegenerate at p', we prove the convergence of the mapping H.

RESIDUES OF HOLOMORPHIC FOLIATIONS RELATIVE TO A GENERAL SUBMANIFOLD

Bulletin of the London Mathematical Society, 2005
Since the celebrated result of \textit{P. Baum} and \textit{R. Bott} [J. Differ. Geom. 7, 279--342 (1972; Zbl 0268.57011)], residue theorems have become an essential analytical tool in the study of complex (possibly singular) foliations. They are used, for example, in the study and classification of foliations of complex compact surfaces, as well as ...

Generic submanifolds of generalized complex space forms

Publicationes Mathematicae Debrecen, 1997
The first part of the paper gives a survey of submanifold theory of almost Hermitian manifolds. The results of the paper provide a better understanding of generic submanifolds of complex space forms. A necessary and sufficient condition for the integrability of a totally real distribution is given.

Isotropic submanifolds generated by the Maximum Entropy Principle

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2004
We show that the Maximum Entropy Principle (E.T. Jaynes), when considered as a constrained extremization problem, has a natural description in terms of Morse Families of an isotropic (Lagrangian in the finite dimensional case) submanifold of an infinite‐dimensional linear symplectic space.
