Fine-mapping genetic associations [PDF]
AbstractWhilst thousands of genetic variants have been associated with human traits, identifying the subset of those variants that are causal requires a further ‘fine-mapping’ step. We review the basic fine-mapping approach, which is computationally fast and requires only summary data, but depends on an assumption of a single causal variant per ...

Saturation of barley genetic map using retrotransposon-based markers and doubled haploid population derived from a cross of Clipper×Sahara [PDF]
Genetic maps with high density and wide genome coverage play significant role in basic and applied genetic researches. In recent decades, with the advent of DNA markers, the huge development has been created in genetic map preparation and saturation in ...

Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) is a perennial forage crop known as the “Queen of Forages.” To dissect the genetic mechanism of flowering time (FT) in alfalfa, high−density linkage maps were constructed for both parents of an F1 mapping population derived ...

Accurate assembly of complete genomes is facilitated by very high density genetic maps. We performed low-coverage, whole-genome shotgun sequencing on 96 F6 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) of a cross between safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) and its ...

Quantitative Trait Loci Associated with Drought Tolerance in Brachypodium distachyon
The temperate wild grass Brachypodium distachyon (Brachypodium) serves as model system for studying turf and forage grasses. Brachypodium collections show diverse responses to drought stress, but little is known about the genetic mechanisms of drought ...

Genetic exchange in Trypanosoma brucei: evidence for mating prior to metacyclic stage development [PDF]
It is well established that genetic exchange occurs between Trypanosoma brucei parasites when two stocks are used to infect tsetse flies under laboratory conditions and a number of such crosses have been undertaken.

Mapping Human Genetic Ancestry [PDF]
The human genome is a mosaic with respect to its evolutionary history. Based on a phylogenetic analysis of 23,210 DNA sequence alignments from human, chimpanzee, gorilla, orangutan, and rhesus, we present a map of human genetic ancestry. For about 23% of our genome, we share no immediate genetic ancestry with our closest living relative, the chimpanzee.
