Genetic and Phenotypic Parameters for Sow Productivity
Journal of Animal Science, 1984Data from 609 purebred Yorkshire, Hampshire and Duroc litters were utilized to obtain genetic and environmental parameter estimates for litter number and weight traits at birth, 21 d (first creep) and 42 d (weaning) considered as traits of the sow. Differences among paternal half-sib sets of sows were analyzed.

Genetic Parameters for Testes Traits in Swine
Journal of Animal Science, 1984Data were collected from 1,245 Duroc boars and 527 Yorkshire boars. This represents 128 Duroc and 57 Yorkshire sires. Body weights, testis length and combined testes width at 140 and 168 d were obtained. Of these boars, 432 were castrated at a later age to evaluate relationships between in situ measures and excised testis traits.

Optimal range segmentation parameters through genetic algorithms
Proceedings 15th International Conference on Pattern Recognition. ICPR-2000, 2002A wide number of algorithms for surface segmentation in range images have been recently proposed characterized by different approaches (edge filling, region growing,...), different surface types (either for planar or curved surfaces) and different parameters involved.

Genetic parameters for eggshell traits in ostriches
British Poultry Science, 20121. A study was conducted on ~14000 ostrich eggs to estimate genetic parameters for eggshell traits that could benefit the hatchability of ostrich eggs. Traits measured included the number of pores on the eggshell, the average diameter of these pores, the total area of pores on the eggshell, permeability (pore area/shell thickness) and eggshell ...

Soil parameter identification using a genetic algorithm
International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, 2007AbstractThis paper is dedicated to the identification of constitutive parameters of the Mohr–Coulomb constitutive model from in situ geotechnical measurements. A pressuremeter curve and the horizontal displacements of a sheet pile wall retaining an excavation are successively used as measurements.

Genetic parameters of growth curve parameters in male and female chickens
British Poultry Science, 19991. Individual growth curves of 7143 chickens selected for the form of the growth curve were fitted using the Laird form of the Gompertz function, BW4=BW0xe(L/K)(1-e-Kt) where BWt is the body weight at age t, BW0 the estimated hatching weight, L the initial specific growth rate and K the maturation rate. 2. Line and sex effects were significant for each

Kaolinite-genetic and thermoanalytical parameters
Journal of Thermal Analysis, 1997Different genetic types of kaolinite were investigated from the point of view of crystallinity. The measurements were carried out by means of different methods of thermal analysis, infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The different parameters of the degree of crystallinity based on a series of 85 nearly monomineralic samples were critically ...

Parameter-free adaptive genetic algorithm
2014A new adaptive approach, which applies the concept of relative importance of information to the genetic algorithm, is developed. Selection, crossover and mutation are parameter-free in the sense that the problem at a particular stage of evolution chooses the parameters automatically.

Common parameters in genetic athymia and senescence
Experimental Gerontology, 1974Abstract Immunoglobulins M predominate over immunoglobulins G in the sera of both, young nude mice and old C57B1. It is not clear whether the rise in the IgM/IgG and IgM/IgG1 ratios observed in the C57B1 strain beyond the first year of life characterises also senescence in other strains. Up to the age of 1 year at least, these ratios fall rather than
