CLINICAL APPLICABILITY OF PROPOSED ALGORITHM FOR IDENTIFYING INDIVIDUALS AT RISK FOR HEREDITARY HEMATOLOGIC MALIGNANCIES [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Over the past decade, more than 12 genes have been identified to cause hereditary predispositions to hematologic malignancies. These syndromes are characterized by an increased risk to develop myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), acute myeloid leukemia (AML),

The Non‐Coding Regulatory Variant rs2863002 at chr11p11.2 Increases Neuroblastoma Risk by Affecting HSD17B12 Expression and Lipid Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The SNP rs2863002 at the 11p11.2 locus, identified through GWAS, is associated with an increased risk of neuroblastoma. The rs2863002‐C allele impairs the binding of the transcription factor GATA3, resulting in upregulation of the HSD17B12 gene.

Choroid Plexus Fibroblast–ILC2 Niche Promotes Adult Hippocampal Neurogenesis after Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates the role of group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2) in the choroid plexus (ChP) following traumatic brain injury (TBI). ILC2 accumulation alleviates immune infiltration, preserves hippocampal integrity, and improves sensory‐motor and memory functions.

Microphysiological Uremia Model Reveals Biophysical Potentiators of Vascular Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A microfluidic platform of engineered blood vessels is developed to study the role of mechanical forces in immune cell adhesion and extravasation in uremic microenvironments. Elevated pressure increases monocyte activity, with ICAM‐1 as a key driver. Matrix density influences monocyte phenotypes, but the uremic environment consistently promoted a pro ...
