In PCOS patients with hyperandrogenemia, decreased ferritin heavy chain 1 (FTH1) causes Fe2⁺ overload and ferroptosis in trophoblasts. Androgens induce FTH1 protein degradation via AR‐LAMP2A‐mediated chaperone‐mediated autophagy pathway, leading to placental development disruption and early pregnancy loss. Metformin mitigates androgen‐induced placental

Meta‐GWAS of Pig Semen Quality Traits Reveals Conserved Genes Regulating Mammalian Fertility
This study incorporated 14 210 individuals to perform a GWAS meta‐analysis of six semen quality traits. The GWAS meta‐analysis identifies 234 GWAS loci associated with semen quality traits. The incorporation with a functional genomics resource explains potential genetic regulation of ∼40% GWAS signals underlying semen quality traits.

EGR Proteins Mediate Interferon‐Independent Anti‐HSV‐1 Responses Through Viral and Host Targets
Early antiviral responses are typically mediated by interferons. However, during HSV‐1 infection, host early growth response (Egr) genes, which are not interferon‐stimulated genes, are quickly induced by viral protein ICP0. EGR proteins, in turn, suppress viral lytic infection by activating viral latency‐associated (LAT) and host immune regulatory ...

Genital diseases awareness in young male students: Is information necessary to protect them?
Introduction: Few studies on the prevalence of male sexual diseases are currently available due to difficult application of observational studies or andrological disease prevention campaigns on large series of apparently healthy subjects. The medical check-up linked to compulsory military service represented in Italy a valid tool for epidemiological ...
