Computational Intelligence Approach to Improve the Classification Accuracy of Brain Neoplasm in MRI Data [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Automatic detection of brain neoplasm in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is gaining importance in many medical diagnostic applications. This report presents two improvements for brain neoplasm detection in MRI data: an advanced preprocessing technique is proposed to improve the area of interest in MRI data and a hybrid technique using Convolutional ...

Mathematical models for order of mutation problem in myeloproliferative neoplasm: non-additivity and non-commutativity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
In some patients of myeloproliferative neoplasm, two genetic mutations can be found: JAK2 V617F and TET2. When one mutation is present or not, the other mutation has different effects on regulating gene expressions. Besides, when both mutations are present, the order of occurrence might make a difference.

Order-of-mutation effects on cancer progression: models for myeloproliferative neoplasm [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
We develop a modeling framework for cancer progression that distinguishes the order of two possible mutations. Recent observations and information on myeloproliferative neoplasms are analyzed within our framework. In some patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms, two genetic mutations can be found, JAK2 V617F and TET2.

Female teachers effect on male pupils' voting behavior and preference formation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
This study examines the influence of learning in a female teacher homeroom class in elementary school on pupils' voting behavior later in life, using independently collected individual-level data. Further, we evaluate its effect on preference for women's participation in the workplace in adulthood.

DiaLex: A Benchmark for Evaluating Multidialectal Arabic Word Embeddings [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Word embeddings are a core component of modern natural language processing systems, making the ability to thoroughly evaluate them a vital task. We describe DiaLex, a benchmark for intrinsic evaluation of dialectal Arabic word embedding. DiaLex covers five important Arabic dialects: Algerian, Egyptian, Lebanese, Syrian, and Tunisian.

Engineered Tissue Models to Decode Host–Microbiota Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Host–Microbiota interactions in the human body. Created in BioRender. Ghezzi, C. (2025) https://BioRender.com/ihivskg. Abstract A mutualistic co‐evolution exists between the host and its associated microbiota in the human body. Bacteria establish ecological niches in various tissues of the body, locally influencing their physiology and functions, but ...

Clinical periodontal diagnosis

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Periodontal diseases include pathological conditions elicited by the presence of bacterial biofilms leading to a host response. In the diagnostic process, clinical signs such as bleeding on probing, development of periodontal pockets and gingival recessions, furcation involvement and presence of radiographic bone loss should be assessed prior ...

Vulval Fibroadenoma Presenting as a Unilateral Vulval Mass—A Report of a Common Neoplasm Present at an Uncommon Site

open access: yesMedical Journal of Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, 2023
Vulval fibroadenoma is a rare benign tumor arising from the ectopic breast tissue or mammary-like anal glandular tissue. Although it is a common breast neoplasm, its genital location makes it notable, with less than a hundred cases being reported in the ...
