Atlas of Mediterranean Liquidity: Immerse - A Submerged Map to Reveal Hidden Connections Between Water and Anthropic Life in Genoa

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Creative Practices in Cities and Landscapes
The focus of the research carried out by Zones Portuaires and Corpi Idirici for the digital map of Genoa is water. The map is broken down into the theme of the "immersed" with a dual meaning of "invisible underground or underwater'' due to it being ...

MELEGROS: Monolithic Elephant‐Inspired Gripper with Optical Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
MELEGROS is a monolithic, elephant‐inspired soft gripper integrating 3D‐printed optical sensors within a pneumatically actuated lattice. Simulation‐guided design decouples tactile and proprioceptive sensing. Characterized through grasping tests, MELEGROS can reach, scoop, and grasp, showcasing a paradigm where fully embedded sensing and continuous ...

DC‐magnetometry Analytical Tool Driven by Spin Ordering Phenomena for Sensing Chemical Interactions at the Surface of Nanomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The adsorption of AsV on akaganeite nanorods was found to provide a magnetic signature. A change in the surface spin order gave rise to a second peak in the zero‐field cooled curve. AsIII adsorption does not provide any change in the magnetic behavior of the sorbent.

The Elephant Trunk Skin Inspires a Highly Sensitive and Deformable, Yet Robust, Armor Skin

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study presents the elephant trunk‐inspired armor skin with tactile sensing (ETATS). The ETATS architecture stretches and compresses while resisting puncture and tear, and it enables optical detection of pressure and lateral strain. Morphology‐based decoupling of strain and pressure paves the way to sensitive and deformable, yet robust, soft‐robotic

Routing Optimization of Cable‐Driven Octopus‐Inspired Manipulators With Minimal Actuation via Genetic Algorithm and Finite Element Method

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Soft robotic arms are promising for gentle grasping but often rely on bulky actuation systems. This work presents a computational design framework that optimizes tendon number and routing to achieve target grasps with fewer actuators. Validated on an octopus‐inspired underwater arm, the approach enables efficient, underactuated soft manipulators for ...

CAUIM: Amazonian Cassava‐Based Programmable Biocolloid

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Bridging indigenous heritage and computation, this work introduces the usage of cauim, a traditional Amazonian cassava fermented beverage, as a programmable memristive‐like substrate and resistance switching. The material exhibits frequency‐dependent dynamics enabling reconfigurable Boolean logic operations.
