Chromatin Compaction Protects Genomic DNA from Radiation Damage
Genomic DNA is organized three-dimensionally in the nucleus, and is thought to form compact chromatin domains. Although chromatin compaction is known to be essential for mitosis, whether it confers other advantages, particularly in interphase cells ...

MET variants in the N‐lobe of the kinase domain, found in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinoma, require ligand stimulation to promote cell transformation, in contrast to other RTK variants. This suggests that HGF expression in the microenvironment is important for tumor growth in such patients. Their sensitivity to MET inhibitors opens the way for

ISOLATION AND SEQUENCING OF A GENOMIC DNA ENCODING FOR ASCORBATE OXIDASE, A KEY ENZYME INVOLVED IN THE BIODEGRADATION OF ASCORBIC ACID IN MELON [PDF]
A melon genomic library was used to isolate and characterize a clone of genomic DNA coding for ascorbate oxidase (AO) which is considered a key enzyme in the biodegradation of ascorbic acid (AA).

Genome Architecture and Its Roles in Human Copy Number Variation [PDF]
Besides single-nucleotide variants in the human genome, large-scale genomic variants, such as copy number variations (CNVs), are being increasingly discovered as a genetic source of human diversity and the pathogenic factors of diseases.

Surface mucous as a source of genomic DNA from Atlantic billfishes (Istiophoridae) and swordfish (Xiphiidae) [PDF]
Procedures for sampling genomic DNA from live billfishes involve manual restraint and tissue excision that can be difficult to carry out and may produce stresses that affect fish survival.

Epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) and tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) are associated with early breast cancer response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). This study evaluated EMT and TIL shifts, with immunofluorescence and RNA sequencing, at diagnosis and in residual tumors as potential biomarkers associated with treatment response.

Cavitation Enhancing Nanodroplets Mediate Efficient DNA Fragmentation in a Bench Top Ultrasonic Water Bath. [PDF]
A perfluorocarbon nanodroplet formulation is shown to be an effective cavitation enhancement agent, enabling rapid and consistent fragmentation of genomic DNA in a standard ultrasonic water bath.

Finding the genes in genomic DNA
Genome sequencing efforts will soon generate hundreds of millions of bases of human genomic DNA containing thousands of novel genes. In the past year, the accuracy of computational gene-finding methods has improved significantly, to the point where a reasonable approximation of the gene structures within an extended genomic region can often be ...

Adverse prognosis gene expression patterns in metastatic castration‐resistant prostate cancer
We aggregated a cohort of 1012 mCRPC tissue samples from 769 patients and investigated the association of gene expression‐based pathways with clinical outcomes. Loss of AR signaling, high proliferation, and a glycolytic phenotype were independently prognostic for poor outcomes, and an adverse transcriptional feature score incorporating these pathways ...

DNA methylation of ESR-1 and N-33 in colorectal mucosa of patients with Ulcerative Colitis (UC) [PDF]
Introduction: Epigenetic marking such as DNA methylation influence gene transcription and chromosomal stability and may also be affected by environmental exposures.
