Embryonic Heat Shock and its Effect on Larval and Adult Performance in Drosophila melanogaster [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Drosophila melanogaster live across a wide latitudinal range, thus resulting in divergence in thermal adaptation between populations. Despite differences in thermal tolerances, the effects of an embryonic thermal stress on development have not been ...

Predictability of IL-28B-polymorphism on protease-inhibitor-based triple-therapy in chronic HCV-genotype-1 patients: A meta-analysis

open access: yes, 2014
AIM: To investigate the predictability of interleukin-28B single nucleotide polymorphism rs12979860 with respect to sustained virological response (SVR) in chronically hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype-1 patients treated with a protease-inhibitor and ...

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Genotypes diversity of env gene of Bovine leukemia virus in Western Siberia

open access: yesBMC Genetics, 2020
Background This study describes the biodiversity and properties of Bovine leukemia virus in Western Siberia. This paper explores the effect of different genotypes of the env gene of the cattle leukemia virus on hematological parameters of infected ...

An Evolutionary Algorithm to Optimize Log/Restore Operations within Optimistic Simulation Platforms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this work we address state recoverability in advanced optimistic simulation systems by proposing an evolutionary algorithm to optimize at run-time the parameters associated with state log/restore activities.

CYP2C19 genotypes and Helicobacter pylori eradication [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 2008
twofirst-lineproton pump inhibitor (PPI)-based triple therapy regimens were recom- mended. They are amoxicillin, clarithromycin, and PPI or metron- idazole, clarithromycin, and PPI. In Asia, where metronidazole resistance is high, 3 the regimen frequently selected is amoxicillin, clarithromycin, and PPI.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Multiple roles for UV RESISTANCE LOCUS8 in regulating gene expression and metabolite accumulation in arabidopsis under solar ultraviolet radiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Photomorphogenic responses triggered by low fluence rates of ultraviolet B radiation (UV-B; 280–315 nm) are mediated by the UV-B photoreceptor UV RESISTANCE LOCUS8 (UVR8).

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
