Genre Classification of Web Pages

2004
Genre classification means to discriminate between documents bymeans of their form, their style, or their targeted audience. Put another way, genre classification is orthogonal to a classification based on the documents’ contents.

Genre classification of compressed audio data

2008 IEEE 10th Workshop on Multimedia Signal Processing, 2008
This paper deals with the musical genre classification problem, starting from a set of features extracted directly from MPEG-1 layer III compressed audio data. The automatic classification of compressed audio signals into a short hierarchy of musical genres is explored. More specifically, three feature sets for representing timbre, rhythmic content and

Music Genre Classification with Transformer Classifier

Proceedings of the 2020 4th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing, 2020
Music Genre Classification is a significant and practical field of Music Information Retrieval. Deep learning is increasingly being applied to Music Genre Classification for two main reasons. Firstly, it avoids the manual selection of audio signal features.

Text genre classification with genre-revealing and subject-revealing features

Proceedings of the 25th annual international ACM SIGIR conference on Research and development in information retrieval, 2002
Subject or prepositional content has been the focus of most classification research. Genre or style, on the other hand, is a different and important property of text, and automatic text genre classification is becoming important for classification and retrieval purposes as well as for some natural language processing research. In this paper, we present

Genre classification of music by tonal harmony

Intelligent Data Analysis, 2010
In this paper we present a genre classification framework for audio music based on a symbolic classification system. Audio signals are transformed into a symbolic representation of harmony using a chord transcription algorithm, based on the computation of harmonic pitch class profiles.

Detecting Musical Genre Borders for Multi-label Genre Classification

2013 IEEE International Symposium on Multimedia, 2013
In this paper, we propose a novel method to detect music genre borders for the music genre classification. The music genre classification is getting more important because music is influenced by an increasing amount of different musical styles. A general approach to classify music genres is a single genre labeling that usually gives the meaning of ...

Automatic Classification of Musical Genres Using Inter-Genre Similarity

IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2007
Musical genre classification is an essential tool for music information retrieval systems and it has potential to become a highly demanded application in various media platforms. Two important problems of the automatic musical genre classification are feature extraction and classifier design. In this letter, we propose two novel classifiers using inter-

Genre classification method for home videos

2009 IEEE International Workshop on Multimedia Signal Processing, 2009
In this paper, we present a pioneering study on genre classification for home video. Analyzing home video is a challenging problem because it is generally unstructured and of low production quality in audio and video. Our approach is to define a set of genres referring to those in the actual video sharing site, and to extract salient low level features

Transcription-based video genre classification

2010 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2010
In this paper, we present a new method for video genre identification based on the linguistic content analysis. This approach relies on the analysis of the most frequent words in the video transcriptions provided by an automatic speech recognition system. Experiments are conducted on a corpus composed of cartoons, movies, news, commercials, documentary
