ABSTRACT Thermodynamic constraints and empirical evidence often suggest that fabric‐retentive replacement dolomites are stable carbonate minerals that preserve ancient seawater properties. This study evaluates this hypothesis by examining the Upper Triassic Dolomia Principale in Northern Italy.
