Leveraging Cloud Computing in Geodatabase Management

2010 IEEE International Conference on Granular Computing, 2010
In this work, we leverage Cloud computing technologies in scaling out data management in geographical databases. In particular, we tackle the issue of data indexing in parallel. First, spatial data is partitioned and indexed in a Hadoop MapReduce cluster.

An Ontology-Based GeoDatabase Interoperability Platform

2010
This chapter presents an ontology-based platform enabling automatic translation between a large number of geographical formats and data models. It explains the organizational motivations for developing this system, the technologies used, how its architecture and processing components were developed, what it achieves and where it still needs improvement.

Improving Geodatabase Semantic Querying Exploiting Ontologies

2011
Geospatial semantic querying to geographical databases has been recognized as an hot topic in GIS research. Most approaches propose to adopt an ontology as a knowledge representation structure on top of the database, representing the concepts the user can query. These concepts are typically directly mapped to database tables. In this paper we propose a

Pedestrian Navigation - Creating a tailored geodatabase for routing

2007 4th Workshop on Positioning, Navigation and Communication, 2007
In this paper, we present an approach to generate a geodatabase accustomed to the specific needs of pedestrians for navigation applications. One of our goals is to use different existing geodatasets like topographic, cadastral and indoor vector map data and develop methods for deriving automatically an area-wide available geodata set adapted to the ...
