Experimental and Numerical Study on Enhancing the Performance of a Stepped Solar Still Using Porous Sponge Materials

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 3, Page 1456-1473, March 2026.
Three designs were built and tested: a single‐slope still, a six‐stepped still, and a six‐stepped still with 5 mm sponge sheets. The novelty lies in fixing porous sponge sheets to the vertical faces of the steps. Yield of freshwater and instantaneous efficiency were determined in various combinations, that is, base, stepped, and stepped‐cum‐sponge ...

Brain Folding Trajectories in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 4, March 2026.
Our whole‐brain investigation of sulcal morphometry in ALS demonstrates that brain folding patterns, and in particular the central sulcus, are altered in ALS and correlate with clinical progression, resembling the neurodegenerative pattern of the disease.

Delineating In Vivo T1‐Weighted Intensity Profiles Within the Human Insula Cortex Using 7‐Tesla MRI

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 4, March 2026.
Using 7‐Tesla MRI, this research delineates cortical depth dependent intensity profiles within the human insula cortex, identifying distinct clusters in the posterior–anterior and anterior‐inferior portions of the human insula. These findings offer insights into the structural underpinnings of the insula, supporting individualized approaches ...

A Digital Anatomical Atlas of the Human Cerebellum at Subfolial Resolution

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 4, March 2026.
We present a digital atlas of the human cerebellum at subfolial resolution with both volumetric and surface representations, offering an anatomical ground‐truth reference at unprecedented granularity. ABSTRACT Interest in the cerebellum has surged with the emerging consensus that it supports diverse functions that are topographically arranged across ...

Aquatic reflectance derived from Sentinel‐2 Multispectral Imager data for inland waters in the conterminous United States

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, Volume 11, Issue 2, March 2026.
Abstract Satellite‐based earth observation is a robust tool for tracking change in ecosystems. While terrestrially focused applications of remote sensing have empowered wide adoption for research and management, remote sensing of inland aquatic ecosystems remains comparably nascent.
