A new smooth failure criterion for concrete inspired by Lubliner's condition
Abstract A new failure criterion with 10 parameters is proposed, based on Lubliner's idea of joining two Drucker–Prager cones. The novelty lies in the way of introducing deviatoric shape variation: through two Podgórski's functions. This feature allows for improving plane stress cross‐section's compatibility with experimental data.

A visualization of null geodesics for the bonnor massive dipole
In this work we simulate null geodesics for the Bonnor massive dipole metric by implementing a symbolic-numerical algorithm in Sage and Python. This program is also capable of visualizing in 3D, in principle, the geodesics for any given metric. Geodesics

Predation by pine martens Martes martes and red foxes Vulpes vulpes is an important factor influencing the population dynamics of capercaillie Tetrao urogallus. However, there is a knowledge gap regarding the relative effects of these mesopredators on the reproductive success of capercaillie. To better understand how various landscape factors influence

A Bayesian perspective on orientation estimation in cryo‐EM is presented, with the minimum mean‐square error estimator outperforming standard cross‐correlation‐based approaches, particularly under challenging low signal‐to‐noise conditions. We demonstrate that improved orientation estimation has a decisive impact on 3D reconstruction quality and ...

Hurricane‐induced risk contagion in commercial real estate: Evidence from Hurricane Sandy
Abstract This study examines how hurricane‐induced destruction affects the prices of nearby undamaged commercial real estate properties, using Hurricane Sandy as a natural experiment. Using Real Capital Analytics transaction records spatially merged with Federal Emergency Management Agency building‐level damage data, we empirically employ a difference ...

ABSTRACT Cremation became the dominant funerary practice in the Middle Danube Region during the Roman Period (RP) (1st–4th century) and reappeared in the Early Medieval Ages (EMA) (6th/7th–8th century). This study aims to reconstruct differences in cremation conditions from the Gbely‐Kojatín site (Slovakia, RP and EMA) and the Přítluky site (Czech ...

Compact Riemannian Manifolds with Homogeneous Geodesics
A homogeneous Riemannian space (M = G/H,g) is called a geodesic orbit space (shortly, GO-space) if any geodesic is an orbit of one-parameter subgroup of the isometry group G. We study the structure of compact GO-spaces and give some sufficient conditions

A tutorial on Bayesian model averaging for exponential random graph models
Abstract The use of exponential random graph models (ERGMs) is becoming prevalent in psychology due to their ability to explain and predict the formation of edges between vertices in a network. Valid inference with ERGMs requires correctly specifying endogenous and exogenous effects as network statistics, guided by theory, to represent the network ...

SDFs from Unoriented Point Clouds using Neural Variational Heat Distances
We propose a novel variational approach for computing neural Signed Distance Fields (SDF) from unoriented point clouds. We first compute a small time step of heat flow (middle) and then use its gradient directions to solve for a neural SDF (right). Abstract We propose a novel variational approach for computing neural Signed Distance Fields (SDF) from ...

Inscribing geodesic circles on the face of the superstratum
We use families of circular null geodesics as probes of a family of microstate geometries, known as (1, 0, n) superstrata. These geometries carry a left-moving momentum wave and the behavior of some of the geodesic probes is very sensitive to this ...
