Relativistic geodesy

open access: yes, 2016
Quantum metrology enables new applications in geodesy, including relativistic geodesy. The recent progress in optical atomic clocks and in long-distance frequency transfer by optical fiber together pave the way for using measurements of the gravitational

Climate Crisis, Human Mobility and Security Challenges in the MENA Region: Implications for Sustainable Development and Regional Stability

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines the interplay between climate change, violent conflict and forced migration in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), focusing on asylum flows to the European Union (EU). By integrating high‐resolution climate, conflict and socioeconomic data spanning 2000 to 2023, we develop a comprehensive empirical framework to ...

Solutions of Direct Geodetic Problem in Navigational Applications [PDF]

open access: yesTransNav, 2011
Solutions of such navigational problems as positions from ranges, bearings and courses without any simplifications for a plane or a sphere, by an application of solutions of direct geodetic problem are pre-sented.

Intrinsic Geodesy

open access: yes, 1985
The science of Geodesy has undergone far-reaching changes in the last half century. The impact of new technology, from electromag netic distance measurements to the use of artificial satellites, has been great, and is still largely to be felt.

A new smooth failure criterion for concrete inspired by Lubliner's condition

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract A new failure criterion with 10 parameters is proposed, based on Lubliner's idea of joining two Drucker–Prager cones. The novelty lies in the way of introducing deviatoric shape variation: through two Podgórski's functions. This feature allows for improving plane stress cross‐section's compatibility with experimental data.

Geodesy reference points within Syowa Station, Antarctica, and their local geodetic ties

open access: yes, 2005
P(論文)In order to study geodynamics in relation to atmospheric, oceanographic and glaciological interactions on a global scale, adequate distribution of precise geodesy stations over the Earth is important.

Influence of natural fibers on physical, mechanical, and fire‐resistant properties of microconcrete

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract This study examined the influence of natural fibers on the physical, mechanical, and fire‐resistant properties of microconcrete, in comparison with conventional polypropylene fibers used in cement composites. The fibers were characterized by FTIR and TGA/DSC to assess their composition and thermal stability, and FTIR was also performed after ...

Landscape factors influencing predation on capercaillie nests by two competing mesopredators: pine marten and red fox

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Predation by pine martens Martes martes and red foxes Vulpes vulpes is an important factor influencing the population dynamics of capercaillie Tetrao urogallus. However, there is a knowledge gap regarding the relative effects of these mesopredators on the reproductive success of capercaillie. To better understand how various landscape factors influence
