Heterogeneous rheology controlled postseismic deformation of the 2011 Tohoku‐Oki earthquake

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2016
Using two‐dimensional finite element modeling, we reproduced the observed postseismic deformation of the 2011 Tohoku‐Oki earthquake. Our model, which accounts for the lithosphere‐asthenosphere boundary and weak zones beneath volcanoes, was able to ...

Marine geodesy a multipurpose approach to solve oceanic problems [PDF]

open access: yes
Various current and future problem areas of marine geodesy are identified. These oceanic problem areas are highly diversified and include submersible navigation under ice seas, demarcation and determination of boundaries in deep ocean, tsunamis, ecology,

A new smooth failure criterion for concrete inspired by Lubliner's condition

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract A new failure criterion with 10 parameters is proposed, based on Lubliner's idea of joining two Drucker–Prager cones. The novelty lies in the way of introducing deviatoric shape variation: through two Podgórski's functions. This feature allows for improving plane stress cross‐section's compatibility with experimental data.

Predicting the breeding distribution of wader species across climatic and environmental gradients

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Developing and applying species distribution models is particularly urgent for species currently facing high levels of environmental change. Waders (Charadrii) are among the most species‐rich groups of birds breeding at higher latitudes and the one where species are declining fastest. Iceland holds a large part of the global population of several wader

Geodezija in zemljiška politika - analiza, cilji in instrumenti zemljiške politike po IHFP : Geodesy and Land Policy - Analysis, Goals and Tools According to IHFP [PDF]

open access: yesGeodetski Vestnik, 2003
In the article the difference between the traditional comprehension of geodesy as a specialised profession, and geodesy as an interdisciplinary profession with its role in spatial planning is shown. The working area of urban land policy is described as a

Missouri Botanical Garden's cycad collection: A journey through time

open access: yesPlant Species Biology, EarlyView.
This article summarizes the history of the Missouri Botanical Garden's extensive cycad collection. Some of the specimens currently housed in the living collections date back well over 100 years. Cycads continue to face a myriad of threats in the wild, and their conservation in ex situ collections is of critical importance to assist in their survival ...
