The 2025 Kamchatka Earthquake and Tsunami: Cascading Impacts and Risks to Japan

ABSTRACT On July 29th, 2025, a large earthquake (Mw 8.8) occurred near the Kamchatka Peninsula. This event caused a tsunami that reached Japan's Pacific coast, even though the source was far away. In this study, we analyze the characteristics of earthquakes and tsunamis and discuss how they relate to the recurrence possibility and risk in Japan.

Twenty‐one areal seismic sources are delineated based on the updated earthquake catalog, tectonic, and fault plane solutions.

Seroprevalence of Lumpy Skin Disease and Livestock Owners’ Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices in Selected Districts of Kazakhstan

A cross‐sectional study conducted in 12 districts across four regions of Kazakhstan assessed LSDV seropositivity in cattle and livestock owners’ knowledge, attitudes and practices. Serum samples from 338 cattle were tested by ELISA, and questionnaires were completed by 533 livestock owners. Animal‐level and herd‐level seroprevalence were 23.4% and 18.8%
