GEODETIC ASTRONOMY IN THE NEXT DECADE

Survey Review, 1977
AbstractThe paper discusses methods of determining azimuth and geoid height, recent tests of the possibility of using Doppler observations to artificial satellites to replace azimuth observations, and recent tests of inertial surveying equipment. It also discusses future instrumentation. It concludes that, for most purposes, Laplace azimuth observation

TIME IN GEODETIC ASTRONOMY

Survey Review, 1967
Abstract This is a review article which explains and distinguishes between the different time systems now in use, and shows how modern time signals are controlled and how the geodesist should use them. The work and recent history (in context) of BIH, SIR, SIL, and IPMS are outlined.

Geodetic astronomy in the united states

Bulletin Geodesique, 1935
The astronomical work of the U. S. Coast and Geodetic Survey is concerned mainly with the astronomy of position. Much of its work isbased on the labors of those who compile the standard star catalogues and determine the other fundamental constants on which the nautical almanacs and ephemerides of the world are based.

A first step for the French Geodetic and Fundamental Astronomy Virtual Observatory

open access: yes, 2006
Activities linked to VO within the french geodetic and fundamental astronomy community started in 2005, through two pilot projects, led at OCA-GRGS and OP-GRGS. They are based on visualisation and analysis software of geodetic products -Earth Orientation Parameters, polar motion, station positions, in particular- to make a new science be possible.

Geodetic astronomy and modern astrometry developments

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2008
The connection area between astrometry and geodesy is represented by geodetic astronomy. In the last decades, reason to continuous scientifically development, astronomical geodesy had to response to many complex and various necessities.

Collection of meteorological data during geodetic astronomy observations for investigation of anomalous refraction effect

2023
Anomalous refraction is a part of astronomical refraction that cannot be explained by the radial-symmetric refraction model. Absolute ground-based astrometric observations are significantly affected by anomalous refraction, as it causes additional angular displacements of observed stars.
