The Geodetic Datum in New South Wales

Australian Surveyor, 1984
Abstract In 1969 the National Mapping Council resolved that “all future mapping at all scales” be based on the Australian Map Grid. The AMG is based on the Australian Geodetic Datum 1966, AGD66 which in turn is based on astronomical observations. In consequence of the resolution a massive effort was expended in New South Wales to establish all mapping ...

Errata/Addendum - Australian Geodetic Datum Technical Manual

Australian Surveyor, 1994
Abstract The Australian Geodetic Datum Technical Manual (Special Publication 10) was produced by the former National Mapping Council of Australia in 1984. Since that time this publication has served as the standard technical reference for the definition of the Australian Geodetic Datum (AGD), the Australian Map Grid (AMG) and the Australian Height ...

DATUM TRANSFORMATION PARAMETERS FOR THE KENYA GEODETIC SYSTEM

Survey Review, 1993
AbstractA summary of the history of geodetic control surveys in Kenya is given and this is related to a geodetic datum. Determination of datum transformation parameters is carried out for the 7-parameter and 3-parameter models using 25 points distributed over the country.

A Quaternion-based Geodetic Datum Transformation Algorithm

Journal of Geodesy, 2006
This paper briefly introduces quaternions to represent rotation parameters and then derives the formulae to compute quaternion, translation and scale parameters in the Bursa–Wolf geodetic datum transformation model from two sets of co-located 3D coordinates.

DETERMINATION OF A LOCAL GEODETIC DATUM FROM ASTROGEODESY

Survey Review, 1980
Abstract Several methods of choosing a local geodetic datum, based on astrogeodetic deflections of the vertical, are presented. The results of applying these methods to a test network covering about 200 000 square kilometres in western New South Wales, containing sufficient astronomical stations for reliable astrogeodetic levelling, are computed and ...

BACK TO BASICS (7) CHANGE OF GEODETIC DATUM

Survey Review, 1997
Abstract The coordinates of a position on the surface of the earth may be required to be expressed in more than one reference system.

Geodetic datum transformation to the global geocentric datum for seas and islands around Korea

Geosciences Journal, 2005
According to revisions of survey law taking effect on January 1, 2003, the Korean geodetic datum has been changed from a local geodetic to a world geodetic system. Since the datum change demands a geographical data transformation, the National Geographic Information Institute has established step-by-step plans for the transformation of the land data ...

Height datum definition, height datum connection and the role of the geodetic boundary value problem

Bulletin Géodésique, 1988
Vertical datum definition is identical with the choice of a potential (or height) value for the fundamental bench mark. Also the connection of two adjacent vertical datums poses no principal problem as long as the potential (or height) value of two bench marks of the two systems is known and they can be connected by levelling.
