Reviews of Geophysics, 1982It is the aim of this paper to give a concise review of the current state of research, the trends, and the outstanding problems in the optimization of geodetic networks. The datum problem, which has to be solved in the computational stage, is referred to as the zero‐order design problem.

The Greenland Geodetic Network (GNET)
2020<p>The Greenland Geodetic Network (GNET) consists of 58 global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) installed on the bedrock around the perimeter of the island. Much of the network was installed between 2007 and 2009, providing a long time series of GNSS data for much of Greenland.

On continuous theory for geodetic networks
2005Geodetic levelling networks and networks with distance measurements are analysed in order to elucidate their special features. This analysis naturally leads one to look for continuous analogons of these networks. By means of tools known from the method of finite elements we derive the corresponding Green's functions for various boundary value problems.

The computation of geodetic networks has been carried out by establishing a correspondence between points of the actual physical surface of the earth and points of the reference ellipsoid and by treating elevations separately. This approach does not seem to be tenable any longer in view of the modern needs of space geodesy.

A long-range plan has now been undertaken to establish and maintain horizontal and vertical control frameworks that can adequately meet needs in any part of the country.
