Quantitative Geodiversity Assessment of the Fruška Gora Mt. (North Serbia) by Using the Geodiversity Index [PDF]
The Fruška Gora Mt., as a dominant orographic complex in the Pannonian plain, was selected for a pioneer geodiversity quantification study area due to its unique geology and soil properties. The methodology is based on the geodiversity quantification assessment approach of Serrano and Ruiz-Flaño (Geogr Helv 62:140–147, 2007).

Quantifying Geodiversity at the Continental Scale: Limitations and Prospects
Geodiversity, defined as the natural range of geological, geomorphological, hydrological, and soil features, has been explored in a growing number of studies at different spatial scales.

The concept of geodiversity is becoming more widely used every year, beyond its contribution to the development of geotourism. It is estimated that geodiversity is as important as biodiversity in the functioning of Earth's natural ecosystems.

Geodiversity Research at the Crossroads: Two Sides of the Same Coin
Geodiversity research is a growing industry. However, in contrast to diversity studies in other branches of natural sciences, geodiversity specialists have only paid attention to one side of the coin.

Digital Coalescence and Consolidated Geoconservation Outcomes: A Case Study Using ArcGIS Mobile Applications at Tasmanian Coastal Geoconservation Sites [PDF]
Geoconservation outcomes are hindered by highly subjective and conflicting criteria, varying assessment objectives, disparities in geoconservation strategy steps and the inadequate capturing and representation of geological data in dynamically changing ...

Problems of geotourism and geodiversity [PDF]
Abstract. Early definitions of geotourism stressed tourism related to geology and geomorphology, though some drifted into other concepts such as education, sustainability, conservation and more. Later definitions, largely fostered by National Geographic, treat the topic as related to geography, or more simply place, and concentrate on ...

Geodiversity and the ecosystem approach [PDF]
The term “biodiversity” has become well known in recent years, but much less so is the non-living or abiotic diversity of the planet, known since the 1990s as its “geodiversity.” In simple terms, geodiversity is the variety of the earth’s rocks, minerals, fossils, topography, landforms, physical processes, soils, and hydrological features. Geodiversity

Exploring Ocean Floor Geodiversity in Relation to Mineral Resources in the Southwest Pacific Ocean
The future extraction of mineral resources may irreversibly damage ocean floor geodiversity in the Southwest Pacific Ocean. Therefore, understanding of the spatial distribution of ocean floor geodiversity in relation to mineral resources is important ...

Spatial pattern of geodiversity assessment in the Marrecas River drainage basin, Paraná, Brazil
Geodiversity refers to the variety of abiotic elements and processes present at different scales and dimensions in an area. In this study, the combination of geological formations, structural lineaments and dikes, geomorphological compartments, soil ...
