Geodiversity and Biodiversity of the Postglacial Landscape (Dębnica River Catchment, Poland)
The preparation of a proper zoning plan or landscape-ecological plan requires taking into account recognition of the natural values of an area covered by the plan and evaluating its abiotic and biotic diversities.

Surfaced vehicle tracks are widespread across GB uplands, yet their extent and environmental footprint have until now been poorly quantified. Using remote sensing and a semi‐automated detection model (F1 = 84.3%), we mapped over 5190 km of hill track, finding density highest in wind farm and grouse moor landscapes and with over 2500 km overlapping ...

ABSTRACT The Mediterranean region is characterized by the occasional occurrence of intense rainfall events. Along with lithological, geomorphological, and land use factors, these events influence the hydrosedimentary dynamics of drainage basins, potentially causing torrential floods.

Abstract Nature‐based tourism is a rapidly growing subsector of the international tourism industry. However, capturing broad‐scale patterns of nature visits during touristic trips or visitors' appreciation of nature may be difficult using traditional data sources and methods. In this study, we harness geotagged social media data to understand the scale

Geodiversity mapping in alpine areas
Geodiversity mapping has become an established tool for assessing the value of the abiotic part of the landscape. We present two methods, which have been developed in the mountains of the State of Vorarlberg (Austria), but have a wider application in alpine areas.

Conservation has shifted towards a climate change adaptation approach in which expected species range shifts are increasingly considered to mitigate effects of climate change and habitat fragmentation on biodiversity. As part of this, ecological connectivity needs to be ensured to support gene flow and viable populations in the face of changing ...

Abstract Latent heat (λ $\lambda $ET) fluxes are a major component of the hydrological cycle globally. According to recent models and experimental observations, during droughts, wetter regions respond by increasing λ $\lambda $ET, while drier regions exhibit decreasing trends due to vegetation water stress.

In 2017, the New South Wales (NSW) Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) initiated a state-wide mapping program, SeaBed NSW, which systematically acquires high-resolution (2–5 m cell size) multibeam echosounder (MBES) and marine LiDAR data along

Mapping regional geodiversity in Brazil and Portugal
A methodology meant to be used in the quantitative assessment and mapping of geodiversity was defined for regional scale, following the initial proposal of Pereira et al. (2012). The method was tested in the Xingu Basin, Amazon, Brazil (about 510,000 km2), Paraná State, Brazil (about 200,000 km2), and Portugal mainland (about 89,000 km2).

Geodiversity, encompassing various geophysical elements, can have an important impact on species distribution and affect animal behaviour patterns. Although many wild felids are attracted to rugged terrain and conspicuous relief features, most previous ...
