Optimizing Panning Operating Parameters for Alluvial Gold Processing: The Case of the Wakaso Panning Plant

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 11, November 2025.
The best configuration corresponding to the optimal rate of site handmade panning of gold gravel is obtain by using experimental plan and machine learning. The optimization of alluvial gold yield by genetic algorithms showed that the best configuration of 86.217% at a 10° slope and a 5 tr/min rotation speed.

Electromagnetic disturbances induced by nuclear tests in North Korea

open access: yesTerrestrial, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, 2021
In this study, three magnetometer stations in China and four co-located magnetometers and geoelectric field detectors in Japan were primarily used for observing co-seismic signatures excited by nuclear explosions conducted in North Korea between 2006 ...

Self‐Potential Signal Associated With Hydrothermal System Disrupted by Extreme Raining Events; The Case Study of Formica Leo, Piton de la Fournaise, La Réunion Island

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 130, Issue 11, November 2025.
Abstract The scoria cones called Formica Leo located at the base of the Piton de la Fournaise terminal cone have been chosen for its significant positive Self‐Potential (SP) anomalies associated with hydrothermal uprising fluids to monitor SP signal and study its dynamics in relation with huge and extreme rainfall events.

Multi‐Scale Intense Geoelectric and Geomagnetic Field Perturbations Observed After an Interplanetary Magnetic Field Turning

open access: yesSpace Weather
Intense geoelectric fields during geomagnetic storms generate geomagnetically induced currents in power grids and other infrastructure, necessitating an understanding of their causes, for example, through coordinated space and ground observations.

Assessment of the Impact of Geomagnetic Disturbances on Korean Electric Power Systems

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Geomagnetic disturbances have the potential to impact the operation of electric power systems, and thus the assessment of their impacts is required as the first step for secure power system operations.

Modeling and Risk Assessment of Geomagnetically Induced Currents During Geomagnetic Storm in the 500 kV Power Grid of Guangxi, China

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 23, Issue 11, November 2025.
Abstract Geomagnetic storms can induce geomagnetically induced currents (GIC) in power systems, posing threats to grid security. In this study, a GIC calculation model for the 500 kV power grid in Guangxi, China, is developed based on one‐dimensional (1D) and various three‐dimensional (3D) magnetotelluric (MT) impedance data.

Forecasting GICs and Geoelectric Fields From Solar Wind Data Using LSTMs: Application in Austria

open access: yesSpace Weather, 2022
The forecasting of local GIC effects has largely relied on the forecasting of dB/dt as a proxy and, to date, little attention has been paid to directly forecasting the geoelectric field or GICs themselves.
