General Aspects of Sedimentation in the Geological Basins of France

SEPM Journal of Sedimentary Research, 1950
ABSTRACT The three chief sedimentary basins of France (the Paris, Aquitanian, and Rhodanian Basins), and three smaller ones (Limagne, Forez, and Alsatian Basins), are defined. The roles played by the marginal land areas are examined in each case. The primary importance of the Central Massif, and its progressive reduction during geological time, are ...

Micropetrography of Hydrothermal Sediment and Synergy of Microorganisms in the Geological Environment

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2017
In the Jurihe area of Inner Mongolia, lamellar hydrothermal sediment of Permian was recognized. These rocks were inter-bedded with volcanic rocks, altered by hot water (hydrothermal fkuid) during the synsedimentary and quasi-synsedimentary stage. The lithogeochemistry of the rock components differ from typical sedimentary rocks.

Sediment Transport along the Southeast Mediterranean: A geological perspective

Geo-Marine Letters, 1984
Sediment is being transported from the Nile Delta to the Israeli coast by a wave-induced longshore current carrying mainly sand, and by the geostrophic Mediterranean Current, detected in Earth Resources and Technology Satellite (ERTS) photographs through the presence of suspended sediments.

Sediments Behaviour at Basin and Geological Time Scales

61st EAGE Conference and Exhibition, 1999
Basin modelling aims to reconstruct the accumulation of hydrocarbons at basin scale, and at geological time scale, taking into account the effects of kinematics displacements, sedimentation, erosion, compaction, temperatures history, overpressures and fluids flows (water and hydrocarbons).

Shatsky Rise Sediments: Correlation of Lithology and Physical Properties with Geologic History: GEOLOGICAL NOTE

AAPG Bulletin, 1972
ABSTRACT Drilling on the Shatsky Rise shows that only subtle changes in the lithology, mineralogy, and physical properties of the calcareous nannoplankton ooze occur across a major unconformity. Sediments above the unconformity are late Miocene and younger, and contain an eolian and andesitic volcanic contribution in

Origin of perylene in ancient sediments and its geological significance

Organic Geochemistry, 2000
The distributions of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in sediments of three Upper Triassic to Middle Jurassic sedimentary sequences from the Northern Carnarvon Basin, Australia have been investigated. Perylene was found to be a major PAH component in the top Lower to base Middle Jurassic sediments that are immature or at low maturity.

Recognition of Playa Sediments in the Geologic Column.: ABSTRACT

AAPG Bulletin, 1953
Playa sediments are sometimes reported in oil-well cuttings, particularly in sediments whose age End_Page 2780------------------------------ is Miocene or younger. A careful investigation of the sedimentary properties of playa sediments of the present has revealed certain characteristics which it is believed will enable the geologist to definitely ...
