Eusocial bee species are exposed to different toxic element profiles despite foraging within the same landscape

Bombus terrestris and Apis mellifera colonies sharing the same landscape (<50 m from each other) collected pollen with significantly different heavy metal concentrations. B. terrestris‐collected pollen contained 2–7× higher concentrations of arsenic, chromium, cobalt, lead and tin than A. mellifera‐collected pollen.

ABSTRACT Melanistic lesions, including non‐raised black areas due to proliferations of melanocytes and melanomacrophages in the dermis and epidermis, as well as raised black areas consistent with melanoma, are described in brown bullhead (BBH) Ameiurus nebulosus from three water bodies in the northeastern United States and Quebec, Canada.

The Unexpected Discovery of Paleocene? Coals in Outcrops Thought to Be Cambrian, Al Huqf, Oman

ABSTRACT Two brown organic deposits were encountered whilst investigating kaolinitic claystones thought to occur at the base of a Cambrian formation at outcrop. The age of these organic deposits is probably Paleocene from palynology. Organic petrography shows that they are subbituminous coals with some oil source potential.
