ABSTRACT The ecosystem of the Manas River Basin, composed of mountains, oases, and deserts, constitutes an ideal natural laboratory for investigating surface processes and environmental evolution in arid regions. Elucidating the provenance, transport dynamics, and climate response mechanisms of surface sediments in this system is critical for advancing

Direct Detection of Hydrogen Reveals a New Macroscopic Crustal Water Reservoir on Early Mars
Abstract The next great leap in Martian exploration is the return of samples to Earth. Maximizing their scientific value requires non‐destructive analytical techniques for early three‐dimensional characterization. Neutron computed tomography (CT), highly sensitive to hydrogen, complements conventional X‐ray CT and enables the detection of hydrous ...

Synthetic Geologic Hydrogen: Can It Be Generated at Scale?
The main driver of climate change is the release of fossil carbon, in the form of carbon dioxide, into the atmosphere. This anthropogenic carbon dioxide is mostly the result of the combustion of fossil fuels including natural gas. Natural gas is inexpensive, easily stored at national scale, and burns cleanly at high temperature, which is

Recent Developments in Electrochemical Lignin Depolymerization Using Flow Systems: A Mini Review
This review summarizes the current state of the electrochemical depolymerization of lignin focusing on studies performed in flow cells. Three anodic strategies are distinguished: oxygen evolution reaction substitution for energy‐efficient hydrogen generation, nonselective oligomer production, and selective aromatic monomer synthesis, such as vanillin ...

Abstract Magnetotelluric (MT) surveys reveal high electrical conductivity anomalies along major trans‐lithospheric shear zones. Given that trans‐lithospheric shear zones are proposed conduits for deep‐Earth volatiles, we employ molecular dynamics simulations to quantify H+ diffusivity and electrical conductivity at olivine grain boundaries.
