Changes in the chloride content of ground water in Pinellas County, Florida between 1947 and 1956 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1958
In December 1956 the U. S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Florida Geological Survey and the Board of County Commissioners of Pinellas County, collected waterlevel and chloride content of water in 94 wells in Pinellas County. First sampled

Capillary Dynamics Analysis of Millimetric Tubes for Anti‐Slip Surfaces: A Phase‐Field Based Finite Element Approach and Experimental Validation

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, EarlyView.
Phase‐field method based numerical modelling of the capillary rise in millimeter‐sized tubes, aiming for anti‐slip applications. The experimental validation was performed through capillary assays in polyethylene oxide (PEO) bulk modified polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) channels.

Distribution Characteristics and Factors Controlling Different Phosphorus Fractions in the Soils and Sediments of an Inland Lagoon

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Lagoons, significant coastal wetlands, stand out for their vital role in the cycles and transformations of phosphorus. However, the relationship between the spatial distributions of various phosphorus forms in the soil and sediments of lagoon areas ...

Long‐Term Active Rather than Passive Restoration Promotes Soil Organic Carbon Accumulation by Alleviating Microbial Nitrogen Limitation in an Extremely Degraded Alpine Grassland

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Active restoration increases soil organic carbon stocks by reducing microbial nitrogen limitation. Nitrogen availability promotes particulate to mineral‐associated organic carbon conversion by reducing microbial carbon use efficiency. Passive restoration has no effect on soil organic carbon stocks.

Multifunctional Tailoring of Fertilizer Composites Directly Derived From Phosphate Rock

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel phosphorus‑sulfur mixed acid with urea (PSU) activation system converts low‑grade phosphate rock (LPR) into multifunctional fertilizer composites (MFCs). MFCs feature porous structures, high nutrient‑activation efficiency, superior slow‑release, and enhanced crop growth, offering a sustainable solution for integrated nutrient management and ...

Stress‐Induced Melting Controlled Failure Mechanisms of Methane Hydrate

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We study methane hydrate via nanoindentation and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), finding its regional melting and mechanical properties, challenging existing views on hydrogen‐bonded crystals. Abstract Methane hydrate, a kind of nonstoichiometric crystalline, attracted worldwide attentions as a promising substitute energy. Its Dissociation is thought
