Geomagnetic disturbances and coronal rays [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2004
The cause of 92 geomagnetic disturbances in the period of 1997 – 2003 was analyzed. There were used data from LASCO C3 instrument from SOHO satellite, SOHO LASCO CME Catatalog, and the daily average indices Ap. In this contribution we proposed to search sources of the geomagnetic storms taking into account the old idea by Newkirk and Bohlin (1965 ...

Geomagnetic disturbance effects on satellite attitude estimation

open access: yesActa Astronautica, 2021
Abstract This study investigates the effects of magnetic disturbances resulting from geospace storms on the satellite attitudes estimated by EKF. It is shown that the increasing levels of geomagnetic activity affect geomagnetic field vectors predicted by IGRF and T89 models.

Characterization of G -Semigroup by Intuitionistic N-Fuzzy Set (INFS) and its level set [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Some characterizations of G -Semigroup by intuitionistic N-fuzzy sets have been given here. The concept of intuitionistic N-fuzzy set (INFS) and its level set has been applied to G -semigroup.

Method to determine initial aiming azimuth accuracy using acceleration, gyroscope, and geomagnetic sensors

open access: yesICT Express, 2020
Initial aiming azimuth measurement using a geomagnetic sensor is very common, but difficult to use, because the accuracy cannot be determined even in places where geomagnetic disturbance can be compensated.

Solar flares and variation of local geomagnetic field: Measurements by the Huancayo Observatory over 2001-2010 [PDF]

open access: yesSerbian Astronomical Journal, 2017
We study the local variation of the geomagnetic field measured by the Huancayo Geomagnetic Observatory, Peru, during 2001-2010. Initially, we sought to relate the SFI values, stored daily in the NOAA's National Geophysical Data Center, with the ...

Characterisation of the temporal sequence of geomagnetic fluctuation of Xinmocun landslide

open access: yes地球与行星物理论评
Selecting an appropriate index is essential for the scientific and effective early warning of landslides. To explore the potential use of geomagnetic fluctuation signals as an early warning index for landslides, this study investigates the ...

Optimal Transmission Line Switching Under Geomagnetic Disturbances [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2018
In recent years, there have been increasing concerns about how geomagnetic disturbances (GMDs) impact electrical power systems. Geomagnetically-induced currents (GICs) can saturate transformers, induce hot spot heating and increase reactive power losses.

Ionospheric response to the 2009 sudden stratospheric warming over the equatorial, low, and middle latitudes in the South American sector [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The present study investigates the ionospheric total electron content (TEC) and F-layer response in the Southern Hemisphere equatorial, low, and middle latitudes due to major sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) event, which took place during January ...

Simultaneous Global Ionospheric Disturbances Associated With Penetration Electric Fields During Intense and Minor Solar and Geomagnetic Disturbances

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
A new observational phenomenon, named Simultaneous Global Ionospheric Density Disturbance (SGD), is identified in GNSS total electron content (TEC) data during periods of three typical geospace disturbances: a Coronal Mass Ejection‐driven severe ...
