MECHANISM OF GEOMAGNETIC JERKS [PDF]
Mechanism of geomagnetic jerks evident from the model of the hot Earth magnetic field is discussed here. Similar in their principle, reversals, excursions and jerks result from auto adjusting of temperature of the phase change (PC) “evaporation ...

Geomagnetic jerks and seismic activity
By means of a Monte Carlo simulation, we explored the extent to which large earthquakes may induce fluctuations on the secular variation of the Earth's magnetic field.

Evidence for a geomagnetic jerk in 1990 across Europe
The analysis of geomagnetic data from magnetic observatories demonstrated the existence of very rapid changes, or jerks, in the secular variation, especially the occurrence of the well known geomagnetic jerks of 1969 and 1978.

Geomagnetic jerks in the Swarm Era [PDF]
The timely provision of geomagnetic observations as part of the ESA Swarm mission means analysis and modelling can be conducted rapidly and kept up-to-date in a manner not possible before.

Local time features of geomagnetic jerks [PDF]
The geomagnetic jerk amplitudes, which are defined as abruptness of changes in the trends of geomagnetic time series, are investigated with geomagnetic monthly means computed from hourly mean values at each local time. A statistical time series model in which the trend component is expressed by a second order spline function with variable knots is ...

A taxonomy of simulated geomagnetic jerks [PDF]
SUMMARYGeomagnetic jerks—abrupt changes in the acceleration of Earth’s magnetic field that punctuate geomagnetic records— have been richly documented over the past decades by taking advantage of the complementary strengths of ground observatory and satellite measurements.

On the characteristics of successive geomagnetic jerks [PDF]
Spherical harmonic models of the 1969, 1979 and 1992 geomagnetic jerks are computed using data from about 160 worldwide geomagnetic observatories. The dominance of the internal origin part with respect to the external one confirms again the internal origin of these events. A change of sign is observed between two successive jerks (1969–1979, 1979–1992).

Rescue and quality control of historical geomagnetic measurement at Sheshan observatory, China [PDF]
The Sheshan Geomagnetic Observatory (International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy (IAGA) code SSH), China was built in Xujiahui, Shanghai in 1874 and moved to Sheshan, Shanghai at the end of 1932.

IRREGULARITIES IN THE DISPLACEMENT OF THE EARTH’S GEOGRAPHIC POLE AND JERKS IN THE GEOMAGNETIC FIELD
There are presented the results of analysis of some irregularities in the series of displacement coordinates on the Earth’s surface for the geographic North Pole in order to relate them temporally to some global jerks in the geomagnetic field.

High-Fidelity Archeointensity Results for the Late Neolithic Period From Central China [PDF]
Archeomagnetism focuses on exploring high-resolution variations of the geomagnetic field over hundreds to thousands of years. In this study, we carried out a comprehensive study of chronology, absolute and relative paleointensity on a late Neolithic site
