Preliminary results of simultaneous recording of auroral and geomagnetic pulsations at the ISTP SB RAS station Istok

open access: yesSolar-Terrestrial Physics, 2019
The paper presents the results on first synchronous observations of variations in auroral luminosity and geomagnetic field, made with high temporal resolution at the ISTP SB RAS high-latitude station Istok (70° N, 88° E) in September–December 2018 ...

Space Weather Effects From Moderate to Severe Geomagnetic Storms in October 2024 Over the Latin American Sector

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract This study presents a detailed case study of the ionospheric impacts of moderate (G2) and severe (G4) geomagnetic storms over the Latin American sector, with particular emphasis on the formation and suppression of equatorial plasma bubbles (EPBs).

Estimation of Geomagnetically Induced Currents (GICS) in the Namibian transmission network

open access: yes, 2013
Includes bibliographical references.Geomagnetically Induced Currents (GICs) have become a matter of concern not only to networks located in high magnetic latitude regions but also in networks located in mid-latitude regions.

TEC Prediction Using Cross‐Attention Spatiotemporal Feature Weighted BiConvLSTM and Improved Pre‐Earthquake Anomaly Detection

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract To address the complex spatiotemporal characteristics of ionospheric total electron content (TEC), a bidirectional convolutional long short‐term memory network with a dynamic cross‐attention mechanism for spatiotemporal feature weighting (CASF‐BiConvLSTM) is proposed and further combined with the sliding interquartile range (SIQR) method ...

Forecast of geomagnetic storms in April–November 2024 based on cosmic ray monitoring results

open access: yesSolar-Terrestrial Physics
Since 2013, continuous monitoring of spatial-angular distribution of CRs for each hour of measurements has been carried out at SHICRA SB RAS, using data from the international neutron monitor database NMDB and the method of real-time global survey.

Validating SCUBAS Predictions of Geomagnetically Induced Voltage in Submarine Cables Using Legacy Superstorm Observations

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Modern submarine communication cables, though fiber‐optic in nature, remain vulnerable to space weather hazards due to their internal conductive cables used for powering repeaters. During geomagnetic storms, variations in the geomagnetic field induce geoelectric fields that drive geomagnetically induced voltages along these cables.

Important parameters to locate new geomagnetic observatories to develop geomagnetic studies in Iran

open access: yes, 2016
Geomagnetic observatories are constructed to continuously record the earth's geomagnetic field. The importance of such buildings has resulted in an increasing construction of geomagnetic observatories all over the world.

Terrestrial Space Weather Protection Through Human‐Produced Mass‐Loading

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract While humans become more reliant on Earth's space environment, the potential for significant harm from severe space weather continues to grow. As structures from the sun reach Earth's magnetosphere and space environment, they deposit energy that fuels geomagnetic storms.
