Shear Strength between Soil/Geomembrane and Geotextile/Geomembrane Interfaces

Tunneling and Underground Construction, 2014
A series of laboratory tests was carried out to investigate the shear strength between geomembrane/geotextile and geomembrane/soil interfaces. These tests were conducted with a new test method which enabled repeating shear strength between soil body and cover system components under various normal stresses.

Geomembrane Research Needs

Geosynthetics International, 2002
A US National Science Foundation/Auburn University Workshop was held in Summer 2000 to identify geomembrane-related topics that require research. Three publications were produced: a geomembrane state-of-practice paper, a paper on research needs, and a final paper on organizing similar workshops. The present paper focuses on geomembrane research needs,

Geomembranes to Prevent Swallowing

Journal of Environmental and Agricultural Studies, 2023
The high intensity of rain increases the runoff of the mine area so that the water flowing through the drainage channel carries erosion so that the sediment pond very quickly silts up. The impact is that the water flowing from the sediment pond to the river will be cloudy, disturbing biodiversity in the river.

Geomembrane interface friction

Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 1989
Interface friction between an HDPE geomembrane and an angular as well as a rounded sand, a gravel, and a geotextile was investigated in a ring shear apparatus. The results indicate development of peak resistance at small strain and constant residual interface friction angles at large strain.

Repeated shear behaviors of geotextile/geomembrane and geomembrane/clay interfaces

Environmental Earth Sciences, 2016
Because the normal stress applied to landfill liner systems increases with the volume of waste during the construction of engineered landfills, traditional shear tests do not adequately describe the loading process on the liner system because only one shear test is performed on a single sample.

Leakage through liners constructed with geomembranes—part I. Geomembrane liners

Geotextiles and Geomembranes, 1989
Abstract How impermeable are ‘impermeable liners’? All liners leak, including geomembranes, but how much? What are the mechanisms of leakage through liners constructed with geomembranes? To answer these questions, a detailed review of leakage mechanisms, published and unpublished test data, and analytical studies has been carried out with the goal of
