Optimal strokes for driftless swimmers: A general geometric approach [PDF]

open access: yesE S A I M: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations, 2014
Swimming consists by definition in propelling through a fluid by means of bodily movements. Thus, from a mathematical point of view, swimming turns into a control problem for which the controls are the deformations of the swimmer.

Assuaging nutritional complexity: a geometrical approach [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Nutrition Society, 1999
We have introduced a framework that enables the identification of the important elements in complex nutritional systems, and the quantification of the interactions among them. These interactions include those among the multiple constituents of the ingesta, as well as between behavioural (ingestive) and physiological (post-ingestive) components of ...

Engineering tandem VHHs to target different epitopes to enhance antibody‐dependent cell‐mediated cytotoxicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tandem VHH targeting distinct EGFR epitopes were engineered into a monovalent bispecific antibody (7D12‐EGA1‐Fc) with more potent ADCC without increasing affinity to EGFR. Structural modeling of 7D12‐EGA1‐Fc showed cross‐linking of separate EGFR domains to enhance CD16a engagement on NK cells.

Geometric Approaches to Lagrangian Averaging

open access: yesAnnual Review of Fluid Mechanics
Lagrangian averaging theories, most notably the generalized Lagrangian mean (GLM) theory of Andrews and McIntyre, have been primarily developed in Euclidean space and Cartesian coordinates. We reinterpret these theories using a geometric, coordinate-free formulation. This gives central roles to the flow map, its decomposition into mean and perturbation

A geometric approach to Orlov’s theorem [PDF]

open access: yesCompositio Mathematica, 2012
AbstractA famous theorem of D. Orlov describes the derived bounded category of coherent sheaves on projective hypersurfaces in terms of an algebraic construction called graded matrix factorizations. In this article, I implement a proposal of E. Segal to prove Orlov’s theorem in the Calabi–Yau setting using a globalization of the category of graded ...

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

Generalized Poisson and Geometric Distributions – An Alternative Approach

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Theory and Applications (JSTA), 2018
An alternative approach of Poisson and Geometric distributions having a more general form of sampling method are suggested in this paper and defined them as generalized Poisson and generalized Geometric distributions respectively.

Simplified Geometric Approach to Freeform Beam Shaper Design

open access: yesInternational Journal of Optics, 2020
Beam of light shaping process can be considered ultimate, if both irradiance and wavefront spatial distributions are under control and both can be shaped arbitrarily.

Higher Amyloid and Tau Burden Is Associated With Faster Decline on a Digital Cognitive Test

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective A 2‐min digital clock‐drawing test (DCTclock) captures more granular features of the clock‐drawing process than the pencil‐and‐paper clock‐drawing test, revealing more subtle deficits at the preclinical stage of Alzheimer's disease (AD). A previous cross‐sectional study demonstrated that worse DCTclock performance was associated with
