A geometric approach to Catlin's boundary systems [PDF]
For a point $p$ in a smooth real hypersurface $M\subset\C^n$, where the Levi form has the nontrivial kernel $K^{10}_p$, we introduce an invariant cubic tensor $\tau^3_p \colon \C T_p \times K^{10}_p \times \overline{K^{10}_p} \to \C\otimes (T_p/H_p ...

Virtual nonholonomic constraints: A geometric approach
Virtual constraints are invariant relations imposed on a control system via feedback as opposed to real physical constraints acting on the system. Nonholonomic systems are mechanical systems with non-integrable constraints on the velocities. In this work, we introduce the notion of virtual nonholonomic constraints in a geometric framework.

Geometric Crossing-Minimization - A Scalable Randomized Approach [PDF]
We consider the minimization of edge-crossings in geometric drawings of graphs G=(V, E), i.e., in drawings where each edge is depicted as a line segment. The respective decision problem is NP-hard [Daniel Bienstock, 1991].

A Geometric Approach to Aggregate Flexibility Modeling of Thermostatically Controlled Loads [PDF]
Coordinated aggregation of a large population of thermostatically controlled loads (TCLs) presents a great potential to provide various ancillary services to the grid.

Testing Multi-Field Inflation: A Geometric Approach [PDF]
We develop an approach for linking the power spectra, bispectrum, and trispectrum to the geometric and kinematical features of multifield inflationary Lagrangians.

A Geometric Approach to Covariance Matrix Estimation and its Applications to Radar Problems [PDF]
A new class of disturbance covariance matrix estimators for radar signal processing applications is introduced following a geometric paradigm. Each estimator is associated with a given unitary invariant norm and performs the sample covariance matrix ...

Geometric approach to condensates in holographic QCD [PDF]
An SU(Nf)xSU(Nf) Yang-Mills theory on an extra-dimensional interval is considered, with appropriate symmetry-breaking boundary conditions on the IR brane.

Stability analysis of a disease resistance SEIRS model with nonlinear incidence rate
In this paper, we study a new SEIRS epidemic model describing nonlinear incidence with a more general form and the transmission of influenza virus with disease resistance. The basic reproductive number ℜ0 $\Re_{0}$ is obtained by using the method of next
