Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

From Data Surveying to the Geometrical Analysis of Historical Constructive Wooden Ceiling Structures: A Renaissance Villa in the North of Italy

open access: yesComputers
Villa Cicogna Mozzoni, located in Bisuschio near Varese and Lake Lugano, on the border between Lombardy and Switzerland, has origins dating back to the 1540s as a hunting lodge owned by the Mozzoni family.

Analysis of Geometric Primitives in Quantitative Structure Models of Tree Stems

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2015
One way to model a tree is to use a collection of geometric primitives to represent the surface and topology of the stem and branches of a tree. The circular cylinder is often used as the geometric primitive, but it is not the only possible choice.

Novel Degree-Based Topological Descriptors of Carbon Nanotubes

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, 2021
The most significant tool of mathematical chemistry is the numerical descriptor called topological index. Topological indices are extensively used in modelling of chemical compounds to analyse the studies on quantitative structure activity/property ...

Self-Referential Noise and the Synthesis of Three-Dimensional Space [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Generalising results from Godel and Chaitin in mathematics suggests that self-referential systems contain intrinsic randomness. We argue that this is relevant to modelling the universe and show how three-dimensional space may arise from a non-geometric ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Automatic detection of doors and windows using point clouds in the context of as-built BIM [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences
The automation of 3D modelling from point clouds has emerged as a highly intriguing research area, offering significant potential value in the context of scan-to-BIM (Building Information Modelling) process.

AUTOMATED MODELING OF 3D BUILDING ROOFS USING IMAGE AND LIDAR DATA [PDF]

open access: yesISPRS Annals of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2012
In this work, an automated approach for 3D building roof modelling is presented. The method consists of two main parts, namely roof detection and 3D geometric modelling.

Self-Referential Noise as a Fundamental Aspect of Reality [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Noise is often used in the study of open systems, such as in classical Brownian motion and in Quantum Dynamics, to model the influence of the environment.
