Taxonomic Status of Water vole, Arvicola amphibius Linneaus, 1758 in Western Anatolia

open access: yesHittite Journal of Science and Engineering, 2019
A total of 116 specimens of the genus Arvicola were collected from western part of Turkey Western part of Anatolia and Turkish Thrace and examined based on geometric morphometrics and traditional morphometrics.

Foraging environment determines the genetic architecture and evolutionary potential of trophic morphology in cichlid fishes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Phenotypic plasticity allows organisms to change their phenotype in response to shifts in the environment. While a central topic in current discussions of evolutionary potential, a comprehensive understanding of the genetic underpinnings of plasticity is

Peptide‐Induced Ferroelectricity in Charge‐Transfer Supramolecular Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐inspired supramolecular charge‐transfer amphiphiles self‐assemble into nanoribbons in water, where peptide chirality‐induced symmetry breaking generates robust ferroelectricity across multiple systems. These water‐processable organic ferroelectrics also enhance neuronal outgrowth and electrophysiological maturity, offering a versatile strategy for ...

Geometric morphometrics versus DNA barcoding for the identification of malaria vectors Anopheles dirus and An. baimaii in the Thai-Cambodia border

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Anopheles (Cellia) dirus Peyton & Harrison and Anopheles baimaii Sallum & Peyton are sibling species within the Dirus complex belonging to the Leucosphyrus group, and have been incriminated as primary vectors of malaria in Thailand. In the present study,

Macroevolutionary patterns in cranial and lower jaw shape of ceratopsian dinosaurs (dinosauria, ornithischia). phylogeny, morphological integration, and evolutionary rates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Organisms: Ceratopsians were herbivorous, beaked dinosaurs, ranging from 1 m to 9 m in body length, usually four-footed, and with a bony frill that extended backwards from the cranium over the nape of the neck. Known from Asia, Europe, and North America,

Algorithms to automatically quantify the geometric similarity of anatomical surfaces

open access: yes, 2011
We describe new approaches for distances between pairs of 2-dimensional surfaces (embedded in 3-dimensional space) that use local structures and global information contained in inter-structure geometric relationships.

Geometric and Morphometric Properties of Chillies [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Properties, 2003
Abstract The geometric and morphometric properties of chillies were determined in the moisture range from 329.44 to 10.24% (dry basis). The chillies shape can be treated as oblong. As the moisture content decreased from 329.44 to 10.24% d.b., the dimensions of the major, medium, and minor axes decreased by 3.77, 5.11, and 4.77% respectively.

Gut Microbiota‐Derived Anandamide Mediates the Therapeutic Effects of Urolithin A on Alcohol‐Induced Cognitive and Social Dysfunction via CB1R‐DRD2‐RAP1 Signaling Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that Urolithin A (UA) counteracts alcohol‐induced cognitive and social dysfunction (AICSD) via a gut microbiome‐dependent mechanism. UA‐enriched Bacteroids sartorii and Parabacteroids distasonis elevate anandamide (AEA), which activates the CB1R‐DRD2‐Rap1 signaling cascade to drive synaptic repair and reduce neuroinflammation ...

Integrating species distribution models, genetics and morphology to infer species dynamics of New Zealand Phaulacridium grasshoppers : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Masters of Science in Zoology at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Species comparison studies have used a number of different methods that can contribute to our understanding of processes that influence the differences and similarities observed between species.

Digital reconstruction of the Ceprano calvarium (Italy), and implications for its interpretation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The Ceprano calvarium was discovered in fragments on March 1994 near the town of Ceprano in southern Latium (Italy), embedded in Middle Pleistocene layers. After reconstruction, its morphological features suggests that the specimen belongs to an archaic
