Binary geometric-phase holograms
Diffractive optics elements have exhibited many novel characteristics through various methods of employing Pancharatnam-Berry, or geometric, phase. One geometric-phase hologram (GPH) subset, consisting of a π-difference binary sampling, shows polarization-independent properties that are not present in the continuous GPH and the dynamic-phase binary ...

All-Dielectric Meta-Surface for Multispectral Photography by Theta Modulation
The traditional theta modulator encodes input information by superimposing Ronchi sub-gratings, which is extremely easy to cause spatial channel overlap that results in bands mixing.

We investigate the dynamics of a particle in a confined periodic system—a time-dependent oscillator confined by infinitely high and moving walls—and focus on the evolution of the phase of the wavefunction.

Experimental Measurement of Mixed State Geometric Phase by Quantum Interferometry using NMR [PDF]
Geometric phase has been proposed as one of the promising methodologies to perform fault tolerant quantum computations. However, since decoherence plays a crucial role in such studies, understanding of mixed state geometric phase has become important ...

Measuring Geometric Phase Without Interferometry [PDF]
A simple non-interferometric approach for probing the geometric phase of a structured Gaussian beam is proposed. Both the Gouy and Pancharatnam-Berry phases can be determined from the intensity distribution following a mode transformation if a part of the beam is covered at the initial plane.

A chiral nematic is embedded between multilayer mirrors to obtain voltage-inducible polarized resonance spectra. Initially, the nematic director is uniformly oriented perpendicular to the mirrors’ surfaces because the chiral nematic helix is completely ...

Topological Photonic Media and the Possibility of Toroidal Electromagnetic Wavepackets
This study aims to present a theoretical investigation of a feasible electromagnetic wavepacket with toroidal-type dual vortices. The paper begins with a discussion on geometric phases and angular momenta of electromagnetic vortices in free space and ...
