Geometric probability theory and Jaynes’s methodology

open access: yesInternational Journal of Geometric Methods in Modern Physics, 2016
We provide a generalization of the approach to geometric probability advanced by the great mathematician Gian Carlo Rota, in order to apply it to generalized probabilistic physical theories. In particular, we use this generalization to provide an improvement of the Jaynes’ MaxEnt method.

On the Probabilities of Correlated Defaults: a First Passage Time Approach

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2008
This article investigates the joint probability of correlated defaults in the first passage time approach of credit risk subject to condition that the underlying firms’ assets values and the default boundaries follow geometric Brownian motion processes ...

Isometric Signal Processing under Information Geometric Framework

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
Information geometry is the study of the intrinsic geometric properties of manifolds consisting of a probability distribution and provides a deeper understanding of statistical inference.

A Family of High Continuity Subdivision Schemes Based on Probability Distribution

open access: yesMehran University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology, 2019
Subdivision schemes are famous for the generation of smooth curves and surfaces in CAGD (Computer Aided Geometric Design). The continuity is an important property of subdivision schemes.

Probabilistic analysis of stress intensity factor (SIF) and degree of bending (DoB) in axially loaded tubular K-joints of offshore structures

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Solids and Structures
The stress intensity factor (SIF) and the degree of bending (DoB) are among the crucial parameters in evaluating the fatigue reliability of offshore tubular joints based on the fracture mechanics (FM) approach. The value of SIF is a function of the crack

Qualitative Axioms Within Probability Calculus and Their Role in Comparing Previsions of Random Quantities

open access: yesAxioms
In this paper, the notion of probability is not undefined, so we extend to multilinear indices qualitative axioms which are not in conflict with those characterizing the development of modern probability theory: this is the main objective achieved by the

Anderson-Darling and Watson tests for the geometric distribution with estimated probability of success.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
This paper introduces two new goodness-of-fit tests for the geometric distribution based on discrete adaptations of the Watson W2 and Anderson-Darling A2 statistics, where the probability of success is unknown.

Geometric Gaussian Approximations of Probability Distributions

open access: yes
Approximating complex probability distributions, such as Bayesian posterior distributions, is of central interest in many applications. We study the expressivity of geometric Gaussian approximations. These consist of approximations by Gaussian pushforwards through diffeomorphisms or Riemannian exponential maps. We first review these two different kinds
