A geometric approach to shape from defocus

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2005
We introduce a novel approach to shape from defocus, i.e., the problem of inferring the three-dimensional (3D) geometry of a scene from a collection of defocused images. Typically, in shape from defocus, the task of extracting geometry also requires deblurring the given images.

An algebra of geometric shapes

IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications, 1993
A simple algebra of shapes with 2D planar regions is developed. The fact that a 2D region can be completely described by a one-dimensional, closed-boundary curve if it is homogeneous is used in the presented approach, which first converts the spatial description of the closed curve into an equivalent Fourier series description and then uses the Fourier-

Symbolism of Basic Geometrical Shapes

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1997
This study indicated that a sample of undergraduates (87 women and 36 men) when presented the stimuli of a square, a triangle, and a circle were significantly more likely to associate their fathers with the square and themselves with the circle than otherwise.

Elastic Geometric Shape Matching

2021
In computational geometry, geometric shape matching (GSM) problems are among the classical and well-studied geometric optimization problems. In a conventional GSM problem, the pattern P and the model Q, both from a class S of geometric shapes, are given, along with a suitable distance measure d.

Shapes and Geometric Aptitude

2023
The PISA results with regards to Mathematics and Science for the Greek students have been alarming in multiple consecutive reports. Drawing from this experience, we focus on cultivating the basic geometric understanding of the individual and create a series of constructive and discovery-learning exercises, in order to facilitate the learning process ...
