Geometric and Topological Inference [PDF]
Geometric and topological inference deals with the retrieval of information about a geometric object that is only known through a finite set of possibly noisy sample points. Geometric and topological inference employs many tools from Computational Geometry and Applied Topology.

Geometric and topological entropies of sphere packing [PDF]
We present a statistical mechanical description of randomly packed spherical particles, where the average coordination number is treated as a macroscopic thermodynamic variable. The overall packing entropy is shown to have two contributions: geometric, reflecting statistical weights of individual configurations, and topological, which corresponds to ...

Twisted Alexander polynomials detect the unknot [PDF]
The group of a nontrivial knot admits a finite permutation representation such that the corresponding twisted Alexander polynomial is not a unit.Comment: This is the version published by Algebraic & Geometric Topology on 14 November ...

The canonical partial metric and the uniform convexity on normed spaces
In this paper we introduce the notion of canonical partial metric associated to a norm to study geometric properties of normed spaces. In particular, we characterize strict convexity and uniform convexity of normed spaces in terms of the canonical ...

Topological representation of geometric theories [PDF]
AbstractUsing Butz and Moerdijk's topological groupoid representation of a topos with enough points, a ‘syntax‐semantics’ duality for geometric theories is constructed. The emphasis is on a logical presentation, starting with a description of the semantic topological groupoid of models and isomorphisms of a theory.

Geometric Test for Topological States of Matter [PDF]
We generalize the flux insertion argument due to Laughlin, Niu-Thouless-Tao-Wu, and Avron-Seiler-Zograf to the case of fractional quantum Hall states on a higher-genus surface. We propose this setting as a test to characterise the robustness, or topologicity, of the quantum state of matter and apply our test to the Laughlin states. Laughlin states form

Evolutionary Khovanov homology
Knot theory, a subfield in geometric topology, is the study of the embedding of closed circles into three-dimensional Euclidean space, motivated by the ubiquity of knots in daily life and human civilization.

Level-set based topology optimization considering milling directions via fictitious physical model
Topology optimization is the most flexible structural optimization method that allows the topological modification as well as the shape changes. Topology optimization techniques have recently been utilized in engineering applications regarding multi ...

On Geometric Topological Algebras
The paper under review, one of related works by the author [see also the review above], is influenced by, and subsumed under, a programme of sheaf-theoretic treatment of differential geometry, hence the term ``geometric'' for the algebras in the title.
