Geometrical Error Identification and Compensation for Grinding Machine by Crankshaft Roundness Measuring

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2015
Tangential point tracing grinding method has many advantages in the precise machining for eccentric parts such as crankshaft pin grinding. But its machining accuracy is based on a very precise geometrical model, which means the geometrical error of the ...

Powder Optimization Strategies for Binder Jetting Printing of BaTiO3 and Ba0,6Sr0,4TiO3 Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder optimization is investigated to enable binder jetting of BaTiO3 and Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 ferroelectric ceramics. The antagonistic relationship between flowability and binder compatibility is addressed through binder impregnation of granulated powders and fumed silica addition to fine powders.

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

CMOS pixels crosstalk mapping and its influence on measurements accuracy for space applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Due to different local intra-pixel sensitivity and crosstalk between neighboring pixels, the Pixel Response Function of detectors (PRF - signal of the pixel as a function of a point source position) is generally non-uniform.

The Role of Measurement and Modelling of Machine Tools in Improving Product Quality

open access: yes, 2013
Manufacturing of high-quality components and assemblies is clearly recognised by industrialised nations as an important means of wealth generation. A “right first time” paradigm to producing finished components is the desirable goal to maximise economic ...

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

On the use of polymer gels for assessing the total geometrical accuracy in clinical Gamma Knife radiosurgery applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The nearly tissue equivalent MRI properties and the unique ability of registering 3D dose distributions of polymer gels were exploited to assess the total geometrical accuracy in clinical Gamma Knife applications, taking into account the combined effect ...

Bases of variational method for calculating of metal-cutting systems accuracy

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The bases of a variation method to calculate the metal-cutting systems accuracy for the first time are systemically stated in this paper. The main attention is paid to a problem of joint influence of geometrical accuracy of machine tools and cutting ...

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,
