The authors demonstrate how the effects of herbivory on a key plant trait can cascade to shape the interactions between individual plants and their flower visitors and how the indirect effects between herbivores and pollinators can modulate the structure of interaction networks in terrestrial ecosystems.

Larval parasitism of the autumnal moth reduces feeding intensity on the mountain birch [PDF]

Effects of land cover and protected areas on flying insect diversity
Abstract Widespread insect losses are a critical global problem. Mitigating this problem requires identifying the principal drivers across different taxa and determining which insects are covered by protected areas. However, doing so is hindered by missing information on most species owing to extremely high insect diversity and difficulties in ...

Settling moths as potential pollinators of Uncaria rhynchophylla (Rubiaceae)
Nocturnal pollinators such as moths have received less attention than diurnal insects. To elucidate whether nocturnal moths are important pollinators, we observed both the diurnal and nocturnal visitors to the flowers of Uncaria rhynchophylla (Rubiaceae)

We examined how various trapping, fixation, and preservation methods affect the DNA quality of Coleoptera and Lepidoptera specimens. We found that propylene glycol and cyanide vapors effectively preserved DNA, whereas brine provided a cost‐efficient alternative.
