Monopoles, scattering, and generalized symmetries

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We reconsider the problem of electrically charged, massless fermions scattering off magnetic monopoles. The interpretation of the outgoing states has long been a puzzle as, in certain circumstances, they necessarily carry fractional quantum numbers.

A new view of combinatorial maps by Smarandache's notion [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2005
On a geometrical view, the conception of map geometries are introduced, which is a nice model of the Smarandache geometries, also new kind of and more general intrinsic geometry of surface. Results convinced one that map geometries are Smarandache geometries and their enumertion are obtained.

Feasibility study of skin dosimetry with TLD sheets for measuring the effect of 3D printed bolus in radiotherapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract The thermoluminescence dosimeter (TLD) sheet is a measurement device coated with manganese‐doped LiB3O5 in sheet form. The sheet is 0.2‐mm thick and flexible. Hence, it can fit and be installed on irregular surfaces. The current study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of measuring patient surface doses during radiation therapy using TLD sheets.

Topology Optimization of Lattice Support Structure for Cantilever Beams Fabricated Via Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView., 2023
A numerical scheme is presented to design a lattice support for metallic components additively built via laser powder bed fusion. Results show that thermal‐induced distortion can be respectively reduced by 69%, 58%, and 50% in comparison to a uniform lattice, a fully solid support, and a truss‐based lattice support.

Grassmannians of lines defined in the geometry of a pseudo-polarity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
The regular point-line geometry with respect to a pseudo-polarity is introduced. It is weaker than the underlying metric-projective geometry. The automorphism group of this geometry is determined. This geometry can be also expressed as the geometry of regular lines and planes.

Automatic skin flash optimization in breast and chestwall VMAT with static angle modulated ports: Effect of HU and flash margin size on plan quality and robustness

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Skin flash is typically added to breast and chestwall plans to ensure robust target coverage in the presence of respiratory motion, anatomic changes, and small setup uncertainties. Adding skin flash in volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) plans is an iterative and manual process.

Impact of enhanced leaf model on dose calculation accuracy in single‐isocenter multitarget stereotactic radiosurgery treatments

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Single‐isocenter multitarget (SIMT) radiosurgery has become increasingly popular as advancement in planning and delivery systems have made this approach clinically viable. With targets varying in size and distance from isocenter, SIMT plans are highly complex with dynamic multileaf collimator (MLC) motion.

Architected Lattices with a Topological Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView., 2023
This article develops topological metamaterials showing multidirectional two‐step deformation under compression by embedding contact‐enabled topological mechanisms into lattice structures. Experiments on 3D‐printed 2D and 3D lattices and finite element simulations are conducted to demonstrate the working principle of the topological metamaterials.

Evaluation of the effect of metal stents on dose perturbation in the carbon beam irradiation field

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Propose Carbon ion therapy is indicated for cases in which stents have been inserted, such as bile ducts, but the effect of metal stents on carbon ion therapy is unclear. In this study, the dose perturbation of carbon ion therapy caused by metallic bile duct stents was evaluated by dosimetry. Materials and methods Five different types of metal
