Measured‐State Conditioned Recursive Feasibility for Stochastic Model Predictive Control

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this paper, we address the problem of designing stochastic model predictive control (SMPC) schemes for linear systems affected by unbounded disturbances. The contribution of the paper is rooted in a measured‐state initialization strategy. First, due to the nonzero probability of violating chance‐constraints in the case of unbounded noise ...

Initial State Privacy of Nonlinear Systems on Riemannian Manifolds

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this paper, we investigate initial state privacy protection for discrete‐time nonlinear closed systems. By capturing Riemannian geometric structures inherent in such privacy challenges, we refine the concept of differential privacy through the introduction of an initial state adjacency set based on Riemannian distances.

Camels as a Climate‐Resilient Linchpin for Sustainable Development in Global Drylands

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Camels represent a significant, yet underutilized, asset for advancing integrated sustainable development in the world's expanding drylands. Previous reviews have examined camels' physiology, milk composition, or pastoral systems in isolation; this review examines their potential as a climate‐resilient linchpin for food systems by synthesizing

Antiferromagnetic Chains in a Monolayer of Molecular Qubits Assembled on Graphene

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This work explores the deposition onto graphene of a dithiazole‐based molecular qubit, [Cu(dttt)2], (dttt− = 1,3,2‐dithiazole‐4‐thione‐5‐thiolate), under ultra‐high vacuum conditions. Analytical techniques, including STM, XPS, and X‐ray absorption, reveal the molecular arrangement and magnetic interactions, emphasizing the role of vdW interactions in ...

Breaking Inversion Symmetry via Vanadium Coordination Engineering in Bismuth Vanadium Selenites

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Vanadium coordination engineering induces symmetry breaking in bismuth selenites by transforming symmetry‐compensated VO6/VO5F units into directionally aligned VO5 polyhedra. The resulting non‐antiparallel vanadyl arrangement eliminates dipole cancellation and stabilizes a polar noncentrosymmetric framework with nonlinear optical activity.

The History and Ideas of George Herbert Mead's Pragmatism and Its Relevance for Operational Research and Systems Thinkers

open access: yesSystems Research and Behavioral Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT George Herbert Mead is an oft forgotten or ignored American philosopher who was one of the originators of pragmatism. Today, he is recognised as a creative thinker who has teased out knotty problems that others in the field had not realised were problems. Understanding Mead's analysis has been made difficult because he died prematurely without

Aligning Real‐Time Recurrence Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulations with Plant Data for the Ruhrstahl–Heraeus Degassing Process of Steel

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Uncertainties exist in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling of complex metallurgical processes, even when partly validated by laboratory experiments. rCFD enables computationally efficient prediction of long‐term RH degassing and can be adapted to vary flow conditions.

Impact of half‐joint failures on RC girder bridges: A robustness quantification study

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract The robustness of bridge structures is critical to ensuring safety and service continuity, particularly in aging infrastructure exposed to degradation and unexpected loads. Reinforced concrete (RC) half‐joint bridges—widely built in Italy between the 1950s and 1970s—exhibit specific vulnerabilities due to inspection challenges, durability ...
