Forgetting and Remembering: Kenneth Cumberland and Soil Erosion in New Zealand, 1940s to 2020s
The speed and scale of landscape transformation in New Zealand was almost immediately apparent to British geographer Kenneth Cumberland on his appointment to Canterbury University College in 1938. His efforts culminated in the nationally and internationally well‐regarded book ‘Soil Erosion in New Zealand: A Geographical Reconnaissance (1944a)’, which ...

Control of the geomorphology and gas hydrate extent on widespread gas emissions offshore Romania
The Romanian sector of the Black Sea deserves attention because the Danube deep-sea fan is one of the largest sediment depositional systems worldwide and is considered the world's most isolated sea, the largest anoxic water body on the planet and a ...

Assessing the Impact of Agrivoltaic Systems on Pasture Plant and Soil Microarthropod Communities
ABSTRACT Agrivoltaic systems (AVS) integrate renewable energy production with agricultural use, creating novel microclimatic gradients that can affect ecosystem structure and function. However, the ecological consequences of these gradients on vegetation composition and soil biological quality remain poorly understood, particularly in pasture‐based AVS

Abstract Single cotton boll weight (BW) and seed index (SI, 100‐seed weight) are key determinants of lint and seed yield, yet their genetic basis remains poorly understood. Here, a stable interploidy introgression line with small boll from Gossypium arboreum in Gossypium hirsutum, NB298, was employed to map quantitative trait loci (QTLs) of BW and SI ...

In the paper, the author takes the vegetation as an indicator for the landscape evolution in Svalbard. The observations are made through a systematic network. The algorithm used for the data processing is the "hierarchical classification". It allows to rank the observation points according to narrower and narrower types.
