Geomorphological map of Greece

2022
<p>The present study is a geomorphological overview of Greece on a scale of 1:1,000,000. It is the first attempt of a cartographic synthesis that aims to bring together and interpret the geological and geomorphological factors that contributed to the landscape formation and evolution of Greece on a national scale.

Geomorphological mapping

Geological Society, London, Engineering Geology Special Publications, 2001
There has been a long tradition of geomorphological mapping to support land use planning, especially in Poland (e.g. Klimaszewski 1956, 1961; Galon 1962) and France (e.g. Tricart 1965; for a history of geomorphological mapping in Europe, see Verstappen 1983). The Geological Society Working Party Report on maps and plans (Anon. 1972) identified examples

Geomorphological Field Mapping

2011
Abstract This chapter discusses the principles and applications of geomorphological field mapping, using areas of upland terrain for example, where the presence of well-defined landforms either demonstrates ongoing geomorphic activity associated with specific process–response systems or relates to the former operation of cold climate processes ...

Geomorphological Mapping (Case Studies)

2009
The Oinois (or Charadros) River is located in northeast Attica (Greece). The total main riverbed length is about 31Km, while the drainage basin covers an area of 177,2Km2. It is bounded to the west by the ridge of Mt. Parnitha and to the south by Mt. Pentelikon.

Geomorphological and ecological mapping

GeoJournal, 1979
To a large extend relief of earth's surface controls all processes, both natural and human, in our environment. According to Chorley and Kennedy (1972) relief can be an element of a morphological system, which is related to other parts by physical or geometric properties. This is easily demonstrated by the relief control of local climate (e.g.

LARGE-SCALE GEOMORPHOLOGICAL MAPPING

Mapping Sciences and Remote Sensing, 1987
This paper, presented at a scientific conference convened on the 100th birthday of Professor I. S. Shchukin, founder and former head of the Geomorphology Department at Moscow University, traces the development of large-scale geomorphological mapping there.

Future Developments of Geomorphological Mapping

2011
Publisher Summary The formalization of geomorphological mapping as a central platform for recording landform data cemented its role as a key organizational framework for the study of landforms, their history, materials and the processes associated with them.
