Comparison of Geophysical Model Functions for SAR Wind Speed Retrieval in Japanese Coastal Waters
This work discusses the accuracies of geophysical model functions (GMFs) for retrieval of sea surface wind speed from satellite-borne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images in Japanese coastal waters characterized by short fetches and variable atmospheric

Development of the CYGNSS Geophysical Model Function for Wind Speed
Geophysical model functions (GMFs) are developed which map the Level 1 observables made by the Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System (CYGNSS) radar receivers to ocean surface wind speed. The observables are: 1) the normalized bistatic radar cross section ( σo ) of the ocean surface; and 2) the slope of the leading edge of the radar return pulse ...

The CMOD7 Geophysical Model Function for ASCAT and ERS Wind Retrievals
A new geophysical model function (GMF), called CMOD7, has been developed for intercalibrated ERS (ESCAT) and ASCAT C-band scatterometers. It is valid for their combined incidence angle range and being used to generate wind climate data records. CMOD7 has been developed in several steps as a successor of CMOD5.n.

Toward the Generation of a Wind Geophysical Model Function for Spaceborne GNSS-R [PDF]
This paper presents a comprehensive procedure to improve the wind geophysical model function (GMF) for the Global Navigation Satellite System Reflectometry (GNSS-R) instrument onboard the TechDemoSat-1 satellite. The observable used to define the GMF is extracted from the measured delay-Doppler maps (DDMs) by correcting for the nongeophysical effects ...

An improved C‐band scatterometer ocean geophysical model function: CMOD5 [PDF]
In this paper CMOD5, a new C‐band geophysical model function (GMF), is derived on the basis of measurements from the scatterometer on board of the European Remote Sensing Satellite ERS‐2. First‐guess winds from the European Centre for Medium‐Range Weather Forecasts were used as a reference for the period from August to December 1998, adding up to more ...

Fast imaging for the 3D density structures by machine learning approach
Residual Bouguer gravity anomaly inversion can be used to imaging for local density structures or to interpret near-surface anomalous mass distribution. The reasonable prior information is the crucial recipe for obtaining a realistic geological inversion
